Mine was a mountainbike I bought in 1999 from a friend of mine.

Kuwahara frame, no shock, shimano STX 7 spd for R1000. I had it in my garage until last year gathering dust, then I knocked black guy of his bike one evening and gave him the bike to make up for the damage.

I saw him the other day and he loves the bike, pimped it so bad I almost did not recognise it.

My first road bike was a pink Le Tour that I traded for my MTB with a local dominee. He thought he got a good dealLOL

RSX downshifters, crappy hubs and rims, but it flew like the wind, or so I thought....

Are you sure you fixed that quickly? You bought a Felt. Seems to me like you still need to fix it. LOL

Shame, I hope that you did not have to ride it for too long. The humiliation that you must have gone through.

My first bike I bought when I was 15 for R75.  It was a old, rusted, light blue bike, but it acted as a very good form of transport getting to friends and the stables.  Think the longest I ever rode her was 40 minutes!

I bought her new grips (red and black) and a comfy gel womens saddle for R50 and gave her a spray paint.  Unfortuntely when I was at stables one day the boer bull got hold of her and chowed my saddle and tyres to pieces.  That was the end of my cycling until 8 years later when I bought a Giant Rincon.

1986 - Bought a second hand Le Turbo with Ofmega and Suntour components from Willie Engelbreght at AVH Cycles for R650

Glad to see someone else's "first time" was with a Le Turbo. Mine was from Robbie Macintosh, cost just over a grand at the time and was top of the line. The frame was 2 sizes to big for me , but the idea was I would "grow into it". She still hangs in my garage, her racing days long over.

I left her for a Colnago a few years later, from Alan Van Heerden (when he was close to Alexander, and it was safe to ride in that direction) , 1 size to big, She cost me about R2500 at the time (about a years worth of pay checks)

Today I'm on an  Bianchi Niarone 56 cm frame (never did grow up), cost me 800 pounds sterling, and she has just done 5000Km today.
