MyGT Posted September 8, 2010 Share If anyone has some bright ideas of how to go about making an example of the busdriver, ill be happy to oblige. legally that is of course! get him (or the bus company) to replace your bike first. after them paying for a top end carbon fibre, dura-ace etc bike, they will definitely learn that knocking over a cyclist, is a very expensive accident. there is a law firm that specialises on cases pertaining to road accidents. busy looking for the contact details. MyGT Posted September 8, 2010 Share try De Broglio Attorneys, they specialise with the road accident fund, but i think they should help in giving advice. 011 7887273"Personal injury or Road Accident Fund claim queries can be addressed to Juliet or David at (011) 7887273." flymango Posted September 8, 2010 Share Hey guys, one bus hits you and the next thing you know theres a thread about you on the hub... Thanks to everyone for all the wellwishes. I am fine with a couple of minor injuries and bruises and a bit stiff, but luckily no broken bones or anything more serious. The bus actually hit me from the left front and my left hand and helmet took most of the impact. The guy must have seen me at the last moment and i think he braked hard before hitting me otherwise it might have been a different story. attached is a picture taken by a friendly bystander right after it happened. Still can't believe that dent in the bus. Lucky!! And respect!!
covie Posted September 8, 2010 Share And thats a massive intersection its not like the bus's turning circle was too big to make the turn.
Caerus Posted September 8, 2010 Share And thats a massive intersection its not like the bus's turning circle was too big to make the turn. And from the looks of it no other vehicles around - No excuses - Needs to be taught a lesson. The buses drive along at at 100km/h along where I ride in the morning too the speed limit is 60km/h The just dont seem to care
Ratty Posted September 8, 2010 Share Nice picture the bystander took, certainly helps in proving the driver was negligent. What time was this?
Guest coenie Posted September 8, 2010 Share this is probably the reason i dont own a gun anymore, on the M5 to Mowbray everymorning you get that two taxi's block the highway to let a queue of 50 taxi's turn in. This happened every damn morning on my way to work. Till one day i block the taxi's that normally blocks the traffic. Once we got going the guy next to the driver stuck his hand out the window and pointed his fingers at me in the shape of a gun and "pulled the trigger" Me having an extremely short fuse, opened up my cubbihole, took out my luger, opened my window, stuck the gun out and fired of a blank (My first rounds were always blanks since you have to always give a warning shot) at the taxi. He obviously crapped himself, and then hit the concrete barrier on the right hand side, was really funny to watch but also realized how stupid in infantile a gesture like that is. Got rid of the gun in the meantime.LOL that would have made my DAY!!!!

DirtBag Posted September 8, 2010 Share Do any of you remember the Spike Bike chronicles? It's about a cyclist that goes Rambo on car drivers. It was a bit of an internet phenomenon in the late 90's.
covie Posted September 8, 2010 Share HUH? Speeding, but the bus is standing still and no driver there? Jumping robot? See previous comment? See in the good ol days you use to get people that trained as bus drivers. Now there is an infinite pool of ex taxi drivers floating around and they basically give these killers bigger weapons of mass destruction. Hence the reason busses drive exactly like taxi's these days.
Woofie Posted September 8, 2010 Share Nice picture the bystander took, certainly helps in proving the driver was negligent. What time was this? 6.45 or so.
Tazza007 Posted September 8, 2010 Share Get better soon Captain Dura - missed you at work today (PS: Please spare a thought for those of us who still need to commute home in the traffic this evening, after reading all of these 'less than pleasant / scary' comments ). But hey, if you make a decision not to ride till all the danger elements have been removed from the equation - you will never ride. Its like waiting till the wind stops blowing in CT ... CarbonAddict Posted September 8, 2010 Share Sorry to hear that. Theses bus drivers also race down Oxford Rd in the morning and then cut in front of you before screeching to a stop. They really are not much better than the taxi drivers at the moment...
