Steve posts here.... lets ask him the question.....

Steve why does Shimano not offer a repair service for STi levers. Seeing that you have such a commanding position in the groupset market it could be a great asset to Shimano?????

Thanx in advance for your reply.

Perhaps they are not making enough profit (Cannot see how that is considering that they use non-unionised labour) by selling their goods so cheaply to gain market-share,  and therefore need to make up the shortfall elsewhere and perhaps they do that by shafting their consumers and telling them that the STI's cannot be repaired and you need to buy new - Just a thought.... On that subject.

Steve.

Second question if I may?

I had Ultegra on the bike.  Very happy with it.

Got new STI's in November 2003 I think.

Raced and trained for about 8 months on it.  Coming from the race I took my bike out of the car and set up the wheels in order for me to wheel it to the front door...

Wheels in.  Everything 100%.

Go out for a ride, switch gears to go to a lighter gear.  STI's stuck.  LIKE DEAD stuck.  Not small lever.  Not big.

Take to Bruce Reinecke.  Reason given:  Incorrect cabling. Please buy new SET!

This after 8 months of racing shimano working 100%?

Up until today I still cannot understand it and no one is able to explain it.  How was this my fault?

For that and the poor response I will HATE Shimano with a passion.

(And I know the importers have changed since....)

I really hope that is not your argument. In that case we all need to cut of a nut' date=' start using drugs and be stupid enough to leave a women like Sherryl Crow.

I heard Lance left Sheryl for Matthew McConaughey.

On the Shimano vs Campy thing, i like Campy. It doesn't make me faster or better than anyone else, i just like the way it looks. It also helps that my gears change when i want them to and the bike comes to a stop when i pull on the brakes. What more could i ask for, other than Lance's VO2 max.

Buddy' date=' I sure hope you managed to get a answer to your original question before we hi-jacked your thread Cry
[/quote'] I have confirmed that the Veloce compares to the 105. The rest just makes for interesting and ammusing readingThumbs%20Up.

Another thing' date=' Shimano looks good on any bike, Campag looks good only on Italian bikes and Cannondales.

Make Campy parts me riding faster = NO

Does it look better than shimano - Yes' date='.... because its carbon?

Does it work/shift better - I dunno, never had campy.

Wrong - those are all yes!heheLOLWink And not coz it's carbon btw - had the old Chorus that didn't have carbon pieces yet and worked just as well!

Agh hell...don't they just want to go steal some Campag bolts and screws too?Sleepy But that Dura Ace will not be there for long - rubs off in the first few months - jayyyy...maybe i should get some of those anyway...hmmmm...second thought' date=' nah!Wink

If I had the money I would've fitted the Chorus groupset with a compact crank long ago!  The Shiman is VERY nice' date=' but ai-ai, Campag maketh my eyes ring and my ears water! [/quote']

Nice een Ewep!ClapLOL en LOLLOLLOL @ Holy

Ride what you like folks' date=' if that jap stuff blows your hair back, so be it. If you want the Italian groupset go buy it. Having ridden both, I prefer campag.

As for the patents, whoopee - We all know that if there had been patents when Campag invented and designed the quick release and rear derailleur , we would all be riding Campag. Also makes me wonder how many Campag fans we would have if dear la had ridden Campag instead of Shimano... Sames applies to trek bikes.

 So 'n bek moet j?m kry!!!StarClap

If you can afford it go for it' date=' but please don't go and think you are better than the guy who rides and supports Shimano.
[/quote']

nah...you're not better than him/her...you just have better tasteWink

And with Campy I am out on the bike the whole day long....'cause I have working STI's!!!Big%20smile

I must agree with E1 here ...whatever blows your hair back!! Both groups have pedigree and history and it is down to what you prefer. Most of SA love Castle Lager and I think it the biggest load of heartburn sh*te ever brewed!! Horses for courses!!

What really gets my gander up is when a new kid on the block enters the cycling manufacture fraternity and starts to shoot it's mouth off on how they are the best in the world etc etc and all this in the face of manufacturers who have been around for 50 years plus!!! A certain company called Cervelo springs to mind!!

The other irritant is when something is misspelt as Campagnolo invariably always is!!!

I wonder why Shimano went with a more conventional chain ring? The current Dura Ace ones were supposedly better, so why are they going back to the old ones? Christie2007-09-07 02:09:28

Delgado ou seun.......hoe lank moet ek jou nou nog leer..... jy spel =daardie groupset= se naam kempekkernoglia

Shimano makes good bass reels' date=' coffee grinders and spool reels. I have never used ther flyfishing reels. Do they make saltwatyer reels as well????

Nice thing using Shimano reels, their spare parts can be used to repair STi's..... unlike what certain hubbers claim, they can be repaired. But then you must have the guts to do it yourself...... or change to kempekkernoglia!!!!!

ya right - Penn reels rule , like Campac...

Spinnekop, nee man...ek dink jou Shimano kit was dalk "Friday stock"

Yip, Shimano reels are the best and they have still got one of the best drag systems in the world......they do make Saltwater reels.........and they are Awesome..........

Was quite a niche to have been able to have Ultegra goupo on my bike and have ultegra reels....lekkers....+ Scott bike and Scott fly rods
