Could be me - I'm a cyclist but my pay is not from cycling.

The money for SA pros is peeeeeeeeanuts.

Quite a horde are just on expenses, board & lodging; there is very little money in the sport here.

Conrad Stoltz don't race locally that often either, but should be doing pretty well for himself - or so I would hope as he is competing and winning at the highest level.

not technically a cyclist and a privateer anyway, but no I don't think xterra guys are in this league - it's a marginal sport and doesn't pull the big following it deserves. they don't even stay in hotels, but bunk with locals at races. he's well involved in deals though, but taken a lot of graft to get there.

I would think Burry commands the biggest clout, but maybe pro roadies still sit at a much higher profile - tv revenue for roadcycling is huge, and that filters down.

Doesn't say what they earn, but here are the minimums........peanuts.

In 2009, the agreed-upon minimum wages were 33,000 euros ($46,200) for ProTour racers, 27,500 euros ($38,500) for Professional Continental racers, 26,700 euros ($37,380) for neo-professional ProTour racers and 23,000 euros ($32,200) for neo-professional riders in the Professional Continental ranks.

The CPA had proposed an annual salary of 50,400 euros ($76,160) for ProTour racers and 36,000 euros ($50,400) for Professional Continental racers.

I could be wrong but Burry would sign something like a yearly contract and a figure for the season would be decided upon.

I heard a rumor of an estimated figure when he just joined.

The real money comes from endorsements and monthly payments from those sponsors for advertising.

pretty interesting topic, but check their winnings 1st.

conrad has won 500k (usd) in the last 2 years....from reliable source. burry is also able to buy buildings and houses so must be earning a truck load....i reckon the road rider guys are off the pace. minnaar is also loaded and they all ask appearance fee's too.

i hazard a guess that all guys, bar the roadies are all over a bar...without a doubt.

my take on it.

Maybe some of the cycling executives could include these guys: (annual salary, including bonuses)

Marius Kloppers (BHP Billiton CEO) R75.5 million :o

Mick Davis (Xstrata's CEO) R56.2m

Stephen Koseff (Investic CEO) R30.2m

Julian Roberts (Old Mutual CEO) R23.9m

is the source about conrad's winnings or burry's house?

wouldn't really add up to me, as for the whole world tour - there is only US $458,000 in pro prize monies for everyone per year.xterra planet

I'm sure he does ok, but as a privateer if he gets injured the winnings dry up and it's only endorsements coming through. but look at the kind of cars he drives: the red rocket

compared to the sheppies Gang$ta crui$er
