Coxsackie Virus

Recommended Posts

So, I had coxsakkie 12 or 13 years ago and since then I have suffered chronic fatigue. This year it got really bad and the doc checked my adrenals - turns out theyre a bit messed.

Feeling so frustrated cause I am eating properly, taking all my vitamins and stuff and more vitamin b and immune boosters than the average human yet I keep getting sick and tired. I did a tour in April, landed up with pneumonia, then got slammed with the usual exhaustion, then just get right and start training again and yesterday get slammed with a throat infection.

This is my dilemma - go to doc and get more vit b jabs and maybe another round of antibiotics or stick it out, get slammed by this thing and hope my immune system kicks in. Or do I give up on this stupid thing and see a homeopath or another doc?

Feeling tired of getting sick. I want to train!!! I want to ride my bicycle.

Rant over.

I have coxsackie B3 & B6 which was only diagnosed 4 months ago but I been feeling sick for the past 8 months . Every time I raced or trained I got sick and now I cannot even walk fast without feeling like I have been worked over with a baseball bat .

Trying ozone therapy which seems to be helping and hope to try ride again early in the new year .

Sick and tired of feeling **** and miss the bike .

Both my kids were just diagnosed with it. Developed lots of spots, especially the baby.

Luckily we never contracted it.

Please go for a checkup with a cardiologist - it is possible you have developed a cardiac issue (pericarditis or myocarditis ) as a result - this is a known issue and needs to be investigated further- you should not be feeling this poorly for so long post infection in the absence of related issues.

Only human or animal as well?

Only humans as far as I know. Humans don't get animal diseases and vice versa

Not sure about this particular instance, but unfortunately there are lots of examples.

Brucellosis, Tuberculosis, Leptospirosis, Bird and Swine Flu. The list goes on.

I've had both coxsackie and glandular fever which keep testing positive! The chronic fatigue has hit me smack in the face! I've got a great doc that gives me drips full of everything known to mankind to keep me going! The depression sets in when I can't exercise, the good days I have I 'over-do' it and end up back wishing for the miracle for this horrid never ending set of fatigue and ailments! Wished I know the answers. The fatigue, random muscle spasms and endless list of side effects have been ongoing! All I want to do is be fit and healthy! I barely drink, had to curb that fun as it enhances the fatigue factor! I'm on a very well balanced diet and have never been so frustrated in all my life..... I miss my bike!

Hi all. Can anyone recommend a doctor or specialist in KZN to see for a second opinion re Coxsackie Virus. If not in KZN then JHB. Your input would be greatly appreciated!

Absolutely - Dr Glen Hagemann at the Sharks Medical Centre. He is a sports physician and is an athlete himself, he has helped me through it twice.

PM me if you need any other info, I've learnt a few tricks from 3 separate infections.

Regards,

Cameron

I have just been diagnosed with Coxsackie B3 & B6 virus and I must say finding this forum has just made me realise I need to stop wallowing in self-pity and start getting help to deal with my depressed state of my mind, as it seems the recovery process is going to be a very long and challenging journey. Past few weeks I have been living with false hope telling myself I should be fine in a couple of weeks and should be able to get back on the bike and train for 947, DC, a few tours I was planning to join etc. but thank goodness I found this forum, it just saved me from spending money on race and tour entries I was not going to be able to join. My symptoms (mostly fatigue, irregular heartbeat, breathing problems) have been on and off since the 10th of June. I would exercise when feeling well, two weeks later I would be so tired even lifting my arms would leave me breathless. I had an appointment with a Sports Physician on the 3rd of September. Physical exams showed I was as healthy as a horse but I felt like crap. My resting HR was normal (48BPM) but would have difficulty breathing as soon as I step on the bike. Had a 2nd appointment with the Sports Physician for comprehensive physical tests including lung function, resting & stress ECG tests and results were normal and showed I have a perfectly functioning set of lungs and heart. Did blood tests which detected Coxsackie B3 & B6 virus. I have been told to rest, and am waiting to repeat the tests in a week or so. I find it hard to deal with this. Not being able to do any physical activity is so upsetting..... getting upset triggers breathing related symptoms and bring about strain on the heart, which is not good! The tricky part is, I need to free my mind from stress in order to aid recovery. How can I not stress when my life, as I know it, has been turned upside down????
