Where to ride when the wind is blowing in CT?

Where do you ride when the wind is blowing and which direction (I mean the wind). Althoug I stay in Somerset West, I would apreciate any advice as to routes to ride to reduce the wind effect, depending on wind direction. (not necesarily related to only Somerset or Stellenbosch areas)

and yes, I am aware that IDT is an optionBig%20smile

Was just about to say, i ride in my Garage on the IDT. Where i stay theres just no hiding from the wind. For you racman maybe a quick sprint over Sir Lowries will give you some shelter. Wink

I normally do Stellenbosch and back as Sir Lowry's in the afternoon would be suicide. But the wind in the afternoons is ridiculous. The one afternoon this week that the wind wasn't blowing and I got stuck on the road with a puncture !!!Angry

(i can't even ride in the passenger seat when my wife is driving - what makes you thing I am going to do motor pacing with her driving !!!LOL)

Always ride into the wind to start your ride. Rule of thumb is to ride for 2/3 to 3/4 of your planned ride time into the wind and then turn and fly back.

Caveat: this only works on an out and back route.

Get a tandem and only feel half the wind but best part is when you turn around and the wind is behind you - expect to flyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Julle pansies!  European pro's travel halfway across the globe to come and ride on our beautiful, wide-shouldered, wind swept roads in the Cape in December.  Shame on you for suggesting that the wind is something to hide from!  Come on, grin and bare it!   Next thing you will start crying like little girls when we get Euro style gravel sections....
