Probably the 1st Bottle Review on da Hub...

For Da Specialized Fans:

Specialized's new Purist WaterGate bottle takes virtually any complaint we've had on the lowly water carrier and tackles it head-on, resulting in what is hands-down the best bottle currently available.

Leading the charge is the silica coating applied to the interior surface of the bottle using plasma vapour deposition technology – a process more typically used in the microchip industry. Though just microns thick, the flexible coating absolutely squelches any hint of plastic taste in water, even when things get hot.

That coating also makes for effortless cleaning as all that's required is some hot water, a squirt of dish soap and some vigorous shaking as per company recommendations. Specialized even warns against physically scrubbing Purist bottle interiors lest you damage the coating.

Better than the Camelback Podium?

Would be totally dependent @ price...

to some level they all become very much the same - keep drinks cold, reduce plastic tastes...

You would need to be a bottle/taste expert to notice any variances between high end bottles...

Plasma vapour deposition technology:

Maybe it is just a lil' late on Sat night OR is that just beyond belief?

It's a valid manufacturing technology and it is used to create thin films at temperatures close to room temperature. Whether or not having a thin film in a water bottle is really worthwhile is up for debate.

Amen! Just pop it in the dishwasher, never had a problem. I have cheap bottles that I bought ages ago that just won't die!

Never bought a bottle in my ten years of cycling. Got a shiteload I collected from racepacks over the years. Wash them with ordinary dishwashing soap and every now and then soak them overnight in the stuff used to clean baby bottles.(Miltons)

No dirty bottles or funny taste.

I'm enjoying my Polar bottles. Fit better in my cages than my Camelbak Podium. Are the Spez ones insulated?

No insulation here, ridr...

Camelbak Podium insulated bottles are the pits. I once froze the contents before a race, and the bottle did such a great job that I only managed to get one sip during the last 20 km of a 100 km race! Don't freeze these bottles, cause they chill big time. I like the Spez bottles, will match my bike, but will have to wait for an insulated version as I am spoilt in this regard.
