Some of its malicious. I have seen clumps (heaped piles) of duiwel dorings placed in the lane. I now tend to use the road reserve on the stretch between Sunset and Dolphin beach as there are less thorns and its easier to negotiate the left turning cars that dont indicate.

The council idea of clearing the thorns is to use a weed whacker! Sprays the thorns all over the damn place.

There's a chap with a blower who walks along behind the cutting crew. He looks like a supervisor though, as he typically doesn't do much and walks about 500 - 800m behind the crew aimlessly waving the blower from side to side, even when the South Easter is pushing all his efforts straight back onto the path in front of him.

I decided to get the Dr SLudge tubes for my bike and although I have noticed the extra weight, it's good for my training AND I've not had a flat since. I also do the Sunset to Dolphin Beach stretch on the road.

Simon, was that you and the missus I cycled by just before Woodbridge Island yesterday or the day before? (Can't remember which now)

The Out Riders club from the Table View area are sending council letters asking for permission to remove the offending thorn bushes along the route.

I believe they intend doing the said works after the regular morning club ride.

Thanks for that info Hairy I'll definitely look them up and see if we can get involved.

Yeah I think Sunset to Dolphin on the road is the way to go alright, we'll give that a go and see how we fare.

Don't think it was us Tubehunter, haven't been out this week until today :-( We were the ones walking from Dolphin to Woodbridge with 3 punctures out of four tires about 2 weeks ago...that was the final straw for me!!

Cheers

To all the guys riding on the cycle lane. A word of caution. seems like some bugger has shaken a load of thorns all over the cycle path juts down from the woodbridge turn off. The area across from the school. I just pulled 12 thorns out of my front tire alone. Looks like someone has done it on purpose. I swept as many as i could off the lane.

 Rode on the section from wooden bridge to Tableview yesterday and was all nice and clean - the only small problem I had was a "family" coming in the opposite direction - mum, dad on MTB's and 2 kids wobbling around on mini BMX's - sudden shortage of space! Otherwise found it quite stress free.

Hi Guys,

Why dont WE do something about it and get involded as suggested in a previous post.

We can all complain, that is easy ..... why dont we get up and tackle the problem.......?

The CoCT made moola available to built the infrastructure and to create a safer environment for our families, so why dont we invest some time till the new landscaping settle.

[tinfoilhat]pissed off pedestrian? or some fancypants roadie who thinks his little peloton must ride on the road, so uses the thorning of hte cycle route as proof? <_< I think it's the latter...

we used the track this morning from Paddocks to Dolphin Beach - a fancy pants roadie bunch of about 30 - some of us elected to ride on the hardshoulder becos we don't like getting punctures, dodging walkers and their dogs, wobblers on wheels, runners and poles (and i don't mean polish people). the cycle path bunch had 2 punctures. the cycle path is great and a neccessity but i would only used it for a commute or a social ride with a friend.
