the all mountain bike - myth or reality?

yeah not that bad I guess, but still, non UST is sub R200I suppose slime-filled tubes are R80 a pop, so it kinda adds up

I don't even bother with slime anymore. I've never had it really work. all it does is ooze out some green gunk to help me see where the hole is. Not worth the cash in my opinion

CRC! Pro-bike are the agents, but they only import a few models. Don't do LUST so for UST you have to go DH! A bit darfed. We need to phone them stukkend so they will start importing.

Thank - problem is ordering from CRC never stops at just a tyre, not with Free Shipping. Spend more to save a little! Daft, but it works. Well at least I have some nice Hope Pro 3 Roadie hubs on the way to me now :o

Keen to get on to an all mountain as well. Redwoods in Rotorua is less than an hour's drive away, and believe me when I say that is trail-riding paradise. More berms than you can imagine.

Considering this deal:

http://www.chainreac...x?ModelID=66552

Will arrive in NZ at a price of about R17k. Any opinions, esp on the Lyric fork? Rest of the spec seems pretty good for the price.

Was over there last year, trail riding is huge and the trails are awesome at Rotorua! More than 100km of single track in that forest.

I have broken a reign, 2years of XC and it was done. Get a nomad or mbuzi

That is crazy. I have spent the last 5 years trying to break mine. The shock has finally started squeezing juice from the seals. New seals didn't help. What do you regards as XC? If it includes a 6ft drop to flat, you have my respect, XC dude.

That is the first I have heard!

IIRC you were there to do the SS world champs, yes?

On another note, I am STILL waiting for my bike...it is delayed thanks to, yes, you guessed it, blady volcanic ash. Don't these people know this is an emergency?

In the end I went for the 2010 Kern S1, with a Rockshox Revelation up front...just cause I waited too long to hit the order button and stock ran out. Ah well - total cost R15100 with 'express' delivery (WTF still WAITING!!!)

As far as I know you should be able to get it pretty much at any LBS.

Jees, I just wish I had the guts to do that DH stuff....still get seriously chicken :( . I often think you need to start when you're young to be able to jump those gaps or am I wrong?

I'm about to test the theory that you're never too old to learn. Have already smashed a few of the downhill tracks in the local MTB park (on my XC bike), it's hectic but do-able (at a speed at which the brakes get the biggest workout).

I guess it helps to have started younger, but age shouldn't stop you giving it a go. What's a broken bone or two?

Tumbleweed, we know you have no problem with braking bones and anything else, hahahaha!!

Maybe I just need to lose a few more screws like you then I'll be just as crazy.

No brain, no pain… :D
