Hi, We are planning a long ride at VG tomorrow. Does anyone know if the climb over the ridge which is normally in the advendurance races is open to the public?

pack your wide face to fit the smile.... trails are spectacular!

Hi guys. This is actually my first time posting on the Hub. I'm starting to ride again for the first time in a few years and I want to take to family to Van Gaalen tomorrow to ride. The only issue is that my kids ride behind me in a trailer. Are there any trails I can ride with a trailer on? I'm really keen to get off the tar. Thanks

Hi all.

I haven't ridden VG for a while (new baby and all) but am making a point to go out there for a good 40-50km ride this holiday.

Has somebody recently done a great 40 - 50km there, and be willing to share your gpx/strava route with me.

I am keen to just get out and ride without having to worry about whether I took the right fork in the road for that piece of 'awesome' if you know what I mean...

This is drawn rather than ridden, but looks pretty much spot on (I ride there lots) for what you want

enjoy

And a 36km option (which has less climbing, but no less swoopy single track)

You can also get there from the Chicken Pie, including Eric's secret Enduro track, some Boer war lead mines and a fossil hole.. but thats for you to discover yourself  :)

I'm battling to open these links, any suggestions?

Have you got a file for this?

but but, you ride there so much, you should know where everything is... :P

Which part are you looking for a file for, from Chicken Pie or the enduro?

Isn't the enduro just the rocky descent down Pofadder?

Chicken Pie, you basically ride next to the R512 until Nikita, hang a left up and over, cross the tar road, right at the 4way intersection by Ale House, go around the hill until the tar road that Peaconwood total is on, when you get to the total, ride next to the tar until at VG.

I often ride from Nikita, it's closer to home.

Chicken Pie to Nikita is about 10km's, Nikita to VG is 24.5km.

Here's a ride from Nikita to Pofadder and down the other side:
