Anyone had any issues where your results were not posted on championchip.co.za although you were riding with your chip , and this is not a new chip has been purchased and used at a few events before ?

Jip, this happened to my wife yesterday, but with a new chip. We were on a tandem, so luckily my results were posted. Was our own mistake, apparently one should not ride with 2x chips close together, we both had our racetec & championchips on our ankles. According to championchip the chip should only be on the fork and with no other chips next to it, otherwise it may fail. Maybe you had the same problem?

Good to know . . . I always have both (Ractec and ChampChip) to ensure i have the right chip for the day. I got my time . . . Will be carefull in future though.

Regarding the results, there will be DQ's, but so far are in the licensed categories only.

Championchip automatically DQ anyone who has started before their allocated start time.

HOWEVER!! The corporate category were given permission to start in CL, so numbers from DL-HL would have been found in CL.

Yes, there were problems in the CL batch having two start groups in the start chutes, as one marshal went AWOL for a few minutes and didn't take his batch sign post. It was however correct before BL left, but may have left a few unhappy faces now mid pack instead of at the front.

Keep your comments coming... Good and BAD!!

Next year WILL be better than this year

I spoke to them : We purchased the chip at Race4Victory last year and on the day they didn't have any bike mounts for sale , not sure why can't remember their reason. So we tied my fiance's chip with cable ties to the fork , which worked at Race4Victory but yesterday it didn't work some interference occurred , guess it was just bad luck on the day. So next time before we'll even considering entering a championchip timed race I'll make sure to get hold of a bike mount for the chip somewhere...

It's just a bit sad and demotivating for her to ride a hard race and not get an official result, but as I said that's just the luck of the draw ...

Improving a race that is listed as one of the best will take lots of extra hard work.

Next year e-mail us the numbers pls. (I forget to collect mine on Thursday and hat to get it on Saturday)

Very nice and fast race yesterday... Started and finished with Cat2, but decided to let the guys and girls go for the sprint as I hit one of the cones while every body tried to get to the front for the sprint. Huge bunch that finished in the narrow finish section with a couple of guys dodging rouge cones as the flew/rolled in front of them... Other than that it was a great day for racing...

Great event as everyone is stating here. I have just one gripe and it is for CSA more than for the organisers, I think. Cat 2 was a huge group. Too big and dangerous on the narrow roads. It was sometimes difficult with the wind to stay on the right side of the road. Other than the group size it was still a well organised event. Thank you.

Note the pun [right side of the road]

I was thinking of the pun as I typed it! But yes it is dangerous on those roads with blind corners and the whole bunch on the RIGHT side of the road. But in saying this the marshalss did a great job in trying to secure our safety. On the double road coming back to Carnival City there was a close call when a rider went all the way to the right hand side and narrowly missed a Merc Vito.

Anyone know what happened with the draw for the bike? I was out on he road till late. Everyone was packing up when I got in and wasn't clear where the draw happened / was going to happen.

The draw was made after the main prize giving (12:00). Anyone that had placed the tear-off portion of their race number in the box was eligible. If the whole number was placed in the box it was excluded from winning.

I can see you frustration at being excluded from the draw if you were still on the route. Something to ponder on for 2012.

"Hi Indy, I was one of the guys who came down some chop on my right on a blue Bianchi decided to cut left , hit the guy just infront of me on my left , caught a wobble and went down , I had no where to go , really angry as I pulled the bunch a fair amount of the way :)No major injuries or damage , just a lekka roastie and a few cosmetic scratches"

I also got taken out in that BL Sprint the guy that went down on the right rolled in front of me,so I went down and some chick rode over me!I was on the white Bianchi with the Yellow Bianchi shirt that now has A hole in it  Well done to Indigo and Wrigs

Just received a mail, from CSA via the chief organiser:

This event took place with a few minor incidents and a few disqualifications. Although this was never arranged, we basically had rolling road closure that made racing safer when taking into account the numbers per Cat. Road markings, marshals and Metro police did a fantastic job. By far the best event we have had this year.

Okay, I was not aware of this, and that explains the

side of the road

You know what the rules are with regards to usinmg timing chips - Not to use both at the same time on your bike: use them with their bike mountings to make sure you get timed; If on a tandem, use one in from and one at the back - to me the rules are simple, just stick to them and you will have your official time.

I still like ChampionChip as the results were out on the WEB very early yesterday, well done ChampionChip!!
