  1. It definitely not suitable for tracking something in excess of a range of say 100m
  2. You haven’t included servicing, tyres, brakes, chains, cassettes etc in your calculations. A mtb doing mountain biking costs a lot more to maintain than one doing 95% tar all the time, as an example.
  3. At least R3.50/km to R4.50/km for me. Dual suspension.
  4. 12400km on GX cassette with no slip
  5. 11500km now on GX Eagle cassette with no slip on current chain at 2000km. Aiming for 12500 so let’s see.
  6. The bike I referred to @R90k is not the top end model. Since when does a top end bike come with NX Eagle?
  7. The manufacturers are smoking some good stuff with the pricing they come up with on some models. It’s utterly ridiculous that the poverty spec Supercaliber starts at R90k.
  8. Bontrager XR 4. The end.
  9. Suddenly my XL Fuel Ex doesn't seem so heavy at 13.1kg, ready to ride (which includes dropper, 130mm travel front and back, 2.4inch tyres)
  10. Hope to see full refunds and free entries for 2021 to everyone who entered for 2020.
  11. 6300km on GX to date and on the 5th chain.
  12. they market it as "fully stocked water points"
  13. It's a public road, no entry fees applicable. Nobody can stop you from riding up the hill coincidentally while this thing is going on....just don't let a steel bike beat you
  14. There's an upcoming AGM, there is normally an opportunity during the meeting for general suggestions where you can put this on the table. Would be great to have this link.
  15. Bontrager is Stans or vice versa
  16. Every time I see a Tarentaal, I'm happy to see it because then I know a snake isn't around.
  17. A club doesn’t have clients. It’s not a business. It’s a club. The SGM was the planned approved forum where explanations were offered for the increase in fees. If one doesn’t attend meetings or sign proxies with conditions attached to it it means one agrees with the rest of the decisions made.
  18. The increase was definitely explained at the SGM which no one attended (based on all other AGM’s i.e properties, other clubs etc). I’m sure the minutes of the meeting will be available soon. It’s a pity that no one made any noises when the SGM was advertised i.e trying to gather more attendees to vote to keep the fee increase within inflation. I find it offensive that some members openly dish the club and decisions made when there was a perfectly open forum available last week to do it. It’s a privilege to be able to use the trails so we musn’t upset the landowners unnecessarily. They don’t need any more negativity posted all over the net.
  19. LOL at all the moaners. Go and join Durbanville Golf Club, you’ll pay a few thousand for 6km worth of “track” to enjoy. My membership pays for itself just by the discount the various places in the area offer for members. @ the moaners. Do you understand the sheer magnitude of costs associated to owning land not even mentioning the manhours and expenses related to maintaining trails? Do you realise what the membership fees would be if the club had to buy the 140km trails? Do you realise that 5 phone calls can cancel all the access to the farms? Have you been to the SGM sharing your concerns? Obviously not. I wasn’t there as well but I was at the AGM this year and guess what, out of 6000 or so members there were maybe 30 members saying their say. If R800 bucks a year or just over R2 per day is too much then rather cycle on the road where it’s free. Even if the fees are R2000 it’s still a bargain. I cannot even build a ramp at my house for R2000.
  20. The registration terms cost them my entry.
  21. Not sure about 3rd, but 2nd place was on a mtb.
  22. For the premium you pay for these bikes I would expect it to weigh at least less by the same ratio as the price premium compared to others.
  23. Schurter can save some weight by ditching the 50 and 42 rings. He doesn’t use them.
  24. How does the process work? I assume there is a safe place to store the bikes for the run part? Also, can one leave the running shoes at the transition point before the ride or is it better to have someone there waiting?
