  1. You don't grasp the seriousness of this. If someone is riding on a piece of land they are not supposed to ride they are just as guilty as those ones who are guilty of land invasions. Both are examples of TRESPASSING.
  2. It's a public road, no entry fees applicable. Nobody can stop you from riding up the hill coincidentally while this thing is going on....just don't let a steel bike beat you
  3. How much does the rent cost/m2 for a bike workshop vs car workshop and how many brake pads are sold per year for cars vs bicycles? I follow what you say, but salaries for staff are the same for both sectors, but the market for bicycles are much smaller thus pricing will be higher to make up for the smaller market.
  4. Fuel Ex 9.8. It's the pivots that are dry. R400 labour and some grease should sort it. Although it sounds like it comes from the frame, vibration starts at the pivots and moves through the frame.
  5. There's an upcoming AGM, there is normally an opportunity during the meeting for general suggestions where you can put this on the table. Would be great to have this link.
  6. How is a water backpack constricting? It’s the safest option there is.

  8. Keep it mind (common sense) that there are blind turns. If cyclists are riding in double file around a blind turn and a car comes from behind, the moment the car sees the cyclists and the car's speed is high, i.e not enough space to stop, there are 2 scenarios: 1. The car must get into the other lane. 2. Hit the cyclists. If the other lane has a car in, guess who'll be hit.
  9. You need to read the first post again as your facts are all wrong.
  10. Thanks Van Biljon, at least I know you'll cycle in single file next time. Be sure to drive over the pass next time you are in our area. You'll see that there isn't a lot of space to just park somewhere and have a chat.
  11. Lol at all the warriors. If a simple post generated so much flames from forum member imagine how much flames the cyclists in question would have spewn to me if I took up the matter with them there and then. If they don't read it, they are the ones who'll pay the price. Many others have read it and will think twice next time they are on the pass or any other narrow piece of road somewhere.
  12. You have the right to your wrong opinion.
  13. I thought you Wannabe the one to break the news to them. Especially since you can find space on the pass to park and have a chat to them. They will read this, I'm positive.
  14. Be sure to post this again when there is another thread about a cyclist knocked down somewhere. I'll give you a written guarantee that there will be one some time. It's just a matter of time before someone is knocked down on the pass or off the pass for that matter.
  15. I drove from Villiersdorp to Franschhoek via the pass yesterday and came across a female cycling team/friends going towards Franschhoek in DOUBLE file, right of the yellow line, up the pass. And a mens team towards Villiersdorp also DOUBLE file, right of the yellow line, up the pass. Now I know it's convenient to cycle chatting with your friends in double file especially on a day like yesterday i.e hot, no wind, views to die for etc. BUT The pass is NOT made for cars and cyclists and trucks especially when cyclists are riding double file doing 20km/h or less. There is an on-purpose (not accident) waiting to happen. If you cycle double file you are putting yourself in danger on purpose! Come ladies and gents, we all put in hours worth of training, it's not worth losing your skin and maybe your life cycling up blind corners right of the yellow line.
  16. But their T’c and C’s require a receipt. If you can’t show one, how can they be guilty?
  17. With new bicycle values jumping 19% between 2018 and 2019 (Trek Fuel Ex 9.8) it's also difficult to keep up with the insured values. Everyone except the dealers and the insurers are losing. Maybe it's time we stop paying too much for bikes in the first place.
  18. So does anyone know someone who’s Trek E-bike is missing?
  19. Every time I see a Tarentaal, I'm happy to see it because then I know a snake isn't around.
  20. For interest sake, how much are they cheaper on CRC than shops in SA?
  21. 2 incidents out of thousands of rides. Don’t think anyone will be rushing to tone down the technicality of the trails.
