The only reason why I don’t own an Edge 130 is because of it’s battery life. On events like the TB and 361 you need something that lasts longer. It’s perfect though for everyday riding.

The point is that the message to the criminals is that it's a free for all. The thief is going to do it again whereas if charges were filed then there might have been a slight chance that he won't do it again. Next time it might be someone else's wife, daughter or son being harmed by the same guy. One cannot complain about the state of SA if you aren't willing to be part of the solution.

I’m trying to get case numbers together from victims in the Durbanville/Bellville area to take this problem higher up in the political/law enforcement ranks. It’s difficult getting people to cooperate. The problem is victims don’t report the incidents to the police.

Cars and race finishes shouldn't mix. This one is on the organisers. Shame on them. The finish of the Sportive in December 2021 was also dodgy as hell with guys sprinting for the line and cars inbetween.

Cycling on the trails without paying or on trails which non-members are prohibited from, is trespassing. Why should one trespasser be allowed risk the absolute privilege the rest us paying members have, for access to land we don’t own?

Jerseys last forever. I have 2 First Ascent Pro Elite shorts that I rotate. They are 3 years old and do about 4-8 hours per week between them on the mtb and road bike. Anything over R1200 for shorts is way too much in my view.

The decision to cancel was not the right one. The organisers should have put the risk back to us as participants to decide if we wanted to ride or not. The weather prediction indicated from Wednesday already that the rain would clear up from 7:30 onwards. We had the WHOLE Saturday to ride. At 12:00 it was 30 deg C. They could’ve delayed the start by 3 hours. The weather during the Winelands race in September were much worse and we all survived and finished unmelted… Million of rand down the drain. It’s decisions like this that keep sponsors away.

Buy something newer. If the bike has the Altus groupset, it means that the frame isn't so hot either so you'll spend more money on the groupset than what the bike is worth.

Yeah that would be nice. The amateurs, paying their own way and completing the Epic is worth a lot more than the pro’s.
