  1. That makes one of us... both my 2.3 and 2.5 Aggresor's have died terrible deaths, the 2.3 had a single FOAMO and the 2.5 a Double FOAMO as well...EXO se ma se tjops
  2. For good reason.
  3. Not saying one should be THAT dickish and if you see someone not slow down. That'd would be idiotic. But should you not see an ascending rider until last minute then yeah it's easier for them to pull over than for you. Not that you shouldn't try.
  4. And let's not forget TBMTB does not follow IMBA rules for trail difficulty grading anyway, so why for other things. Descending rider should have the right of way IMO. As someone pointed out earlier...when you heading downhill it's often very difficult to stop in a hurry, whereas plopping over while pedaling uphill is easy.
  5. I've heard he recently changed his name to Die Huishond
  6. Yep and in 1990 that should have been a problem already, let alone 2018!
  7. Does seem like some people are living in the dark ages with their implications
  8. yeah, pretty sure you were unlucky or there was something in your tools they didn't think was a tool or something.
  9. Please Sean...enough now. If that's really you. No I have never lodged a "formal" complaint. Clearly you are ON the committee or closely associated to it, given your ability to search through the website records. Would that be the only manner in which to lodge a complaint then? If so, once again, I tried many years ago, had the page/form crash and gave up. Subsequently I have been engaging verbally with people whom I know are on the committee and who are marshals. Anyway as for the landowner following this thread. What's wrong with that? Nobody can expect there to be complete agreement all the time. As Eddy said above, open public discussion is great, and this is the only forum which we have available to us. Often people do not want to criticize/discuss/etc until someone else has opened a discussion thread. Anyway, once again...the trails as they are are great, the club has been great. But I still think there is room for small changes to have a dramatic effect on how they allow riders to progress and how to make the trails a little safer at the same time. So what now Sean, must I send a trail request to the club via the website to talk to them in person? Or maybe you can arrange it with your fellow committee members/spouse/partner/bff?
  10. Odd. I don't recall saying I hate the trails... Ever actually. If you read back a bit, quite the opposite. You like to imply a lot of things, now most recently that I would not pay to ride a trail. Once again....if you read back I specifically said I'd would rather pay the day permit. Now come on. What threats are you throwing my way on this public forum? I'm intrigued
  11. Hmmm... I don't recall ever abusing anyone or even trying to. Take it how you will. Now you're resorting to threatening me.... Sean... Is that you? You should really relax a bit
  12. This is now tiresome. How would I provide proof that I talked to any of the marshalls or committee members or Patrick himself? Hoogies tomorrow morning 08:00 if you wanna chat in person. As for trail maintenance ... yes I have used it, looong ago about Majik. So, seeing as you clearly know who I am...who are you then? It's only fair to share.
  13. I got over talking to them directly a while ago thanks. Also, I don't see how any rational person would consider criticism/feedback of this nature as being a "https://www.google.co.za/search?q=translate+box+to+afrikaans&oq=translate+box+to+afrikaans&aqs=chrome..69i57j0j69i64l2.5440j1j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8" (make sure to click the 1 More Translation button) Anyway, the hope is really to get people talking. It is hopeless to talk to the club as a single person. Getting people thinking about what else is possible is more important as this point.
  14. OK final 2c. Don't wanna have you posting so much today that your post count gets into the "I cna now sell stuff on the hub" category. But the short of it is wholly yes. Not only on this forum, but via marshals, directly to committee members, builders, etc. Anyway, have a rad weekend, go ride your bike and make sure you smile and chase a mate or get chased!
  15. The all mountain line...few off camber rocky lines, the descent next to the climb to supertubes (seldom ridden) pretty much only off-camber turns. Come now you missed a few.
  16. Wow ... once again, someone who doesn't read well... Nobody is asking for steep gnarr.... This belief that Tygerberg area does not have steep or big hills...Now I am not sure where that came from, but it's a blatant lie to anyone who has not got blinkers on. Hoogies is very very steep, as is Meerendal, Hillcrest and Bloemendal (Conties is on it's own in this discussion as the primary decider on the trail is not TBMTBC). That is a sorry story I'm sick of hearing for years now. Already we have personally identified quite a few places where alternate lines could be cut branching off existing trails, only to be told certain people on the committee think it's "too dangerous"...Hmm, what about going down Bloemendaaler at 40km/hr? Surely that's also (much more) dangerous? And I wouldn't confuse different scenery with trail type variety. Relatively smooth trail after smooth trail joined by berm after berm. Yes it's fun, but the trail gets monotonous after a while. Let's not get started on the big "e" word. There's seemingly about as much confusion and emotion as to what enduro means as there is about how many genders people can identify as these days. Suffice to say, "enduro" is not a type of riding. It's just trail riding...where you get timed. Anyway, would be simpler to explain in person sometime I guess if we ever met up. The club no doubt had done great things, but ... they are not listening to many many many people asking for years now. So...no longer renewing a membership because of this (and because I moved house from on Majik) and will ride there occasionally still under a day permit (AFAIK the day permit money goes to the farmers and not the club?)....a vote with ones wallet goes a lot further. To end..."I could go on and on, but wont"
  17. lol not anger. Just wanting more variety forever now. Frustration. And once again...nobody is asking for anything rampage like or even double black. Go re-read again and again without a biased preconception. Variety and technicality. Technical does not imply double black. Correlation does not imply causation...although it seems the human race is fixated on that so why expect otherwise when asking about Tygerberm. If you think everyone asking for more tech trails is just wanting more DH and freeride lines then you're fooling nobody but yourselves. I feel for poor Patrick. His hands are tied by the committee even though I am sure he would much prefer to build more variety of trail too. I'm all for the dude who earlier said he'd rather go build stuff in Majik. The most interesting (probably because it's different to the rest of the trails) stuff on the trail network is stuff that was built by riders only.
  18. Hey...I specifically said that Conties was the only one with variation in trails for that reason. Hoogies had those berms nice and low. Meaning you actually had to ride your bike properly. TBH al LOT of the Tygerberg trails are actually far more dangerous that we think. Adding turns or more technical (note! note downhill features or massive drops ffs) features forcing riders to learn proper speed control and technical ability is really what's lacking...oh, and proper grading of trails...again. Years long requests. Now gatvol and why I ride there seldom anymore. Table Mountain and Signal hill and Jonkers (and let's not forget Helderberg) FTW.
  19. Only Conties has interesting ITO of different descents. Some off camber, flat cornering, slower technical stuff. Nobody wants DH lines all over the show. But we also don't want berms EVERYWHERE. Like building up the berms so big on the last Hoogies descent. WHY people!? Because it was difficult to ride them? I thought we rode bike to have fun by challenging outselves.
  20. Odd...I didn't realise a 1 day race was close to R800 now
  21. Or buy an Activity Permit for less than half the price and ride the multitude of trails mentioned earlier. Or a MTO trails permit and Jonkers. We're very spoiled around here. Tygerberm is not the only one.
  22. If only they would build a progressive technical trail. Where you have to speed control and be precise. Not just say every time we ask for something tech to "just go faster". At present most "new trail" they build is just the same trail in a different place...Flow, berms...Hence Tygerberm. Oh look, rocks! We'll build the trail AROUND those thanks and then grade it black
  23. Dude....did about half the Tabel mountain stuff when we did a ride from Rhodes Mem to Tokai and back (only did a short lap of Tokai)...56km round trip only crossing over the odd tar road. If you included the rest of Tokai, then more of the Rhodesm Mem, Devils Peak, TM, Deer Park adn Signal Hill trails you're easily looking at 100km of trail as well.
  24. We should all remember that the Tokai permit is not a Tokai permit but a Table Mountain National Park Permit. So Table Mountain, Rhodes Memorial, Signal Hill, Cecelia Forest and Tokai... If you add all that up you get a boatload of trail, a lot of which is single-track and amazing. And if you get 4 people together .. A yearly permit works out to R320 per person
