  1. So my OneTwenty is complete Thanks to Brenton (Bibi) and Zion Bikes, you guys rock Thought I would bring back the customary couch photo, with added matching kittie
  2. As far as I can tell they are the X equivalent of Shimano's "gravity" range. They are supposed to have more stopping power, less fade and better modulation than the XT's at a marginal weight diff...
  3. Yeah I'm pysched on them for sure Shortening will be simple for sure and need to swap right n left anyway so will just belled at the same time...I like a specific feel
  4. New cranks and brakes for Pyga build I'm picking up later.... Old pedals just sprayed to match colour (or lack thereof) scheme
  5. So this is waiting for me In Somerset thanks to Bibi... Now just need to get home from PE to pick it up n build it
  6. Na the 2x10 bolts will work fine. But as I was already running 1x10 I had chopped mine down and they were also too short. Just went to LBS and they gave me an old set of longer ones to use. No biggie
  7. Well either I got fitter since my Monday ride on the same route or it makes a difference. What I noticed is that at the "tipping point" (or top-dead-centre) it is easier to put the power down because the chainring is narrower there. I ride flats and definitely noticed my pedal stroke feeling more circular than usual. So all in all after 1 ride I am sold. And from what I can tell teh Absolute Black guys have done a lot of research into an optimal oval shape. It's quite different to say the Wolf Tooth oval design. So yeah, enough word of mouth, scientific and now actual experience for me to use it. Will try to remember to take a pic tonight of the setup on the bike... The ONLY prob was that the 32t is as small as a 30t on the short axis. I bought 1x chainring bolts which are too short as the chainring has standoffs for chain clearance So will be getting new bolts or swapping them out soon. Cheers
  8. Just got my Absolute Black 32t NW Oval chainring yesterday...Took it for a ride last night around Majik...Wow, easier on the hills than my stock 32 and acceleration was great on the ST
  9. Bla bla bla...DMR V8's...had mine for years, and never serviced them () ... no play in them and still smoooooth after bashing many a rock Dialedbikes.co.za has a few
  10. They're on sale at CWC for like R650 or so at the moment I think
  11. Don't bother clipping in...you can pedal almost as efficiently with flats as when clipped in...there's a vid about a guy trying to test this somewhere. He hooks up to one of those big cardio machines and does the same "route" clipped in and in flats...guess what, flats win. I don't reeeeallly believe this totally though, but I honestly do not bother with clipping in anymore...You can pull back very hard on flats and even pull upwards a fair amount as well so I do not miss clipping in whatsoever. So...anyone wanna buy some CB Mallets?
  12. lol...I'm a climber as well...So would rather not get into the rubber argument I'll just say it is FAR more about your ability than your equipment!
  13. That's not the point. I don't disagree with the fact that they make better shoes. I disagree with the suggestion of going to buy 5.10's when you have trail runners already which work more than well enough for the purpose. Sure, when they're worn out (yes that will be soon) then get the real deal, but no need now
  14. At what...loosing a foot off of a pedal 1 in 15 rides as opposed to 1 in 10? I am sure they are much better, but at this point I have much better things to spend my cash on...Like a dropper Maybe my body has just grown accustomed to riding my trail runners to the point where it doesn't really make much diff anymore
  15. I dunno...I rope in my Salomons for a long time on my DMR V8's and currently ride in my Montrails ...both trail runners and very sledom loose a foot off of a pedal. Sure the 5.10's would be better, but these I had so why replace when I have little issue with them
  16. Didn't UCI make this riding position illegal?
  17. Yeah, 42t+16t + the RAD cage all in green...bling time...and hopefully make Jonkershoek a little more comfortable
  18. I wish mine would bloody arrive already...Ordered on 16 September...nothign yet. Mailed them and they sent another one as first had no tracking and no way to find out where it is...I paid for postage this time...Left the Netherlands this mornign
