  1. Nope the poser would be the guy slogging away on the knobbies imagining that everybody is in awe of his coolness and 'real mountain bike' status. If you consider that nobody cares about what you're doing the day will be more enjoyable on slicks as he gets to experience some of what makes road cycling addictive to us as a variation to mountain biking.
  2. Ride your freekin bike where you want and with slicks if you think it will make your day more enjoyable. There is no such thing as a real mountain biker unless you're 12 years old and doing it to impress people.
  3. It worked fine, that thread is unlocked now.

  5. Just in time to give Clint a breather.
  6. Cool that makes sense. I don't ride with one either because I just go as fast as I feel like but comparing your heart rate over a course looking back to compare fitness can be interesting.
  7. Do you need to fit your legendary underwater combat moves into those sessions as well or do those just stay trained?
  8. What do you do with this HRM data after the ride if you're not seeing it during the ride?
  9. For the next generation it will be 'Baby born with two heads cries in stereo"
  10. You can definitely do the weekend that way. On Saturday you will need to: - Register (takes a few minutes) - Check your bike in (from about lunchtime onwards I think) - Attend race briefing in the evening You will just need to have the content of your transition bags planned beforehand as you won't have the Friday evening to pack them. Enter and enjoy.
  11. So something is easier if you've done it before? If anybody is willing to pay you R800 a month for these pearls of wisdom SARS should charge them another R8000 because they clearly didn't earn the money.
  12. I really like the look of the Momsen STR29 frame. The sliding rear dropouts and 44mm headtube are very neat. No idea about ride quality though compared to others.
  13. I really don't think "anticipatory response coaching" is the most elegant way to say "your body will react better in a race if you have trained".
  14. It's my new idle time killer. I try and fool him into giving a straight answer with carefully constructed questions but the man is way to clever and experienced to fall for such elementary tactics. As for the free advertising, I don't think he is getting a competitive advantage out of these threads.
  15. Before you all report and this thread shuts down can I just ask Oom 'Tice one more time what the hell he means by 'anticipatory response training'. I googled this rather extensively and the best explanation I can find for 'anticipatory response' is pre-race nerves. However in Ticeland the term has a far greater meaning that I would like to understand so I can evaluate his offerings. I feel like a might be missing the secret ingredient that can give me that extra 60% before IM70.3.
  16. Thanks, I was wondering about that.
  17. Maybe my question was unclear. If I want to add endurance will I have to sacrifice speed. I'm talking about my performance not the training method.
  18. Does one add distance to speed or do you always gain one at the expense of the other?
  19. Any other hubbers going to do the Urban Run on Sunday? Looking forward to it.
  20. Thanks, that was my decision as well, was just seeing if I could somehow entice a straight answer seeing as I gave enough info.
  21. Very nice. Jy hou nie terug nie.
  22. Ok Enticement please help me out. I am 172cm and looking for a 29er dual. I think the Anthem seatstays are too long so I won't be able to manual the thing. I don't like the fact that the Spark has no real platform damping as I don't want to fiddle with my suspension all the time to get the most out of the bike. The Tallboy is a bit out of my price range. I don't need a 140mm bike as I'm too bang gat for the big stuff. What do you suggest?
  23. You need to be VERY motivated to get on one. If you manage that it's very good for interval training from what I read.
  24. Who is his administrative assistant at R550 for changing a date, Charlize Theron?
  25. The man certainly says what he means and means what he says. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBbmd1EcnmQ
