  1. Before you all report and this thread shuts down can I just ask Oom 'Tice one more time what the hell he means by 'anticipatory response training'. I googled this rather extensively and the best explanation I can find for 'anticipatory response' is pre-race nerves. However in Ticeland the term has a far greater meaning that I would like to understand so I can evaluate his offerings. I feel like a might be missing the secret ingredient that can give me that extra 60% before IM70.3.
  2. Thanks, I was wondering about that.
  3. Maybe my question was unclear. If I want to add endurance will I have to sacrifice speed. I'm talking about my performance not the training method.
  4. Does one add distance to speed or do you always gain one at the expense of the other?
  5. Any other hubbers going to do the Urban Run on Sunday? Looking forward to it.
  6. Thanks, that was my decision as well, was just seeing if I could somehow entice a straight answer seeing as I gave enough info.
  7. Very nice. Jy hou nie terug nie.
  8. Ok Enticement please help me out. I am 172cm and looking for a 29er dual. I think the Anthem seatstays are too long so I won't be able to manual the thing. I don't like the fact that the Spark has no real platform damping as I don't want to fiddle with my suspension all the time to get the most out of the bike. The Tallboy is a bit out of my price range. I don't need a 140mm bike as I'm too bang gat for the big stuff. What do you suggest?
  9. You need to be VERY motivated to get on one. If you manage that it's very good for interval training from what I read.
  10. Who is his administrative assistant at R550 for changing a date, Charlize Theron?
  11. The man certainly says what he means and means what he says. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBbmd1EcnmQ
  12. 100% Just that the OP didn't make wild accusations. He stated his case and gave enough info for everybody to respectfully disagree with him so need to for him to be flamed.
  13. Somebody has to disagree so I'll be the one. Right up to the point where JB had to cancel at short notice keeping the deposit made sense. At that point people were inconvenienced because they put a weekend aside and I would have refunded deposits. I still respect his contribution to the hub and I believe you guys that his work is of the highest standard but I don't believe the OP needs to be attacked here.
  14. Nice, sounds like a nice day outdoors with some friends, not like you're entering him for Ironman. Just get him some trail mix dried fruit and nuts, biltong, sandwiches etc.
  15. Jy praat baie en sê min.
  16. Definitely the Scott, that carbon frame is one of the best.
  17. I decided the same thing for my next bike. It seems with those longer chainstays it's very difficult to get the front wheel up and play a bit. You get massive traction on loose climbs and a stable ride with the Anthem but I would look at something a bit shorter. The Epic 29 and the Spark 29 both have ~448mm chainstays so that might be the number for a dual. The rocky mountain Element is 445mm compared to the Anthem's 462mm.
  18. "We follow an anticipatory response coaching model aimed at determining your goal and then your current state of conditioning with respect to that" So then does 'anticipatory response coaching model' mean questionnaire? Just trying to expand my vocabulary to epic standards here.
  19. Excellent post. But the correct and logical answer in this case is a philosophical one which is why I find it amusing that people are throwing around terms like 'scientific' and 'fact' as though they have derived every equation for every movement in the human body with and without blades. Back to your post. The next thing someone with a robotic hand wants to prove they have no advantage in the shooting events. If the line is not clear cut there will be chaos.
  20. Well yes I agree he has answered the question himself this week. The moment you bring the blades into the equation how do you prove that the blades are not an advantage. It's a different sport. At the time I supported the idea of him running the normal olympics but in hindsight it was wrong.
  21. You're not being honest with yourself about your own question. The scientific study as to whether his blades give him an advantage over an able bodied athlete is so complex that nobody on the hub can answer it without devoting months to the topic. You need a mathematical model for every movement of the human body. It is also a study that has to be done without prejudice. So the most anybody could contribute to you was their gut feel on whether he has an advantage or not. You actually just wanted people to agree with you that he should not compete.
  22. Cool, I haven't got experience with that. I'm assuming you need to train with that seat post angle to get your muscles used to it? Do you find the bike twitchy?
  23. You can get a set-forward seat post to emulate the seat post angle of a TT bike but from what I have read it will leave the bike twitchy with all the weight on the front wheel. TT bikes are designed to have a stable centre of gravity in that position. For us part timers the clip on bars where you can adjust the pads back are allot more comfortable than sitting in the drops for the entire 45km downhill back into East London. One last thing. I have a set of draft legal bars I bought because they look cooler on the road bike. I wouldn't advise you to go that route as you are leaning on your wrists and it's not as comfortable as full size ones.
  24. Hy moet wag. I don't understand people. They think all their friends and extended family are watching a live feed of their racing results and that people at work will admire them for their 212th place on Monday. If you are not at the olympics nobody else is taking your cycling seriously so you can relax if you lose 5 minutes in a race.
