  1. I'll take that Give me some light rain rather than 35°C heat any day.
  2. What he said. I spent allot of money on a IDT with real life video courses and still it's so boring I would much rather ride rollers or jog. I do sometimes use the IDT as a stand to set my gears though.
  3. I've been researching a bit quickly and this seems the best reviewed solution. http://www.rei.com/product/752285/bike-peddler-take-a-look-mirror A plain old optical mirror attached to your shades or helmet visor. The image quality will be much better than a digitized one on a 3.5" screen.
  4. This is unreal. If you think a Dogma is overpriced and the difference not discernable for most of us buy a generic original design frame. Piggy backing on someones design and brand is stealing plain and simple.
  5. I recall most pro's running a disk so I assume they did the maths.
  6. The Garmin Swim is R1500. It will count your laps and give you your time split for each lap as well. Or you can get the Garmin 910XT which is a complete triathlon watch which will also count your pool laps.
  7. Agreed. Sometimes you just want the bike to feel alive.
  8. Can somebody explain to me why it was decided that a XC bike is better for dirt roads like Karoo to Coast than a trail bike. How is the steeper head angle beneficial when you are going in a straight line?
  9. To the 910xt owners out there. When you use the courses feature can it display your location on an elevation profile like this screen from the Edge 500?
  10. In some cases yes. In other cases they have seen the results of this failed social experiment. You shape your environment by your actions so would you like to get up behind the computer and take a walk outside to see there are no actual shops or people out there? It's the same with buying meat from the supermarket as supposed to your local butcher. 2 Years down the line you realise you are being held ransom because one corporate is controlling your life. From my observation the real first world environments are the ones where people have started supporting their butcher and are living as a community again. Edit: Not all this applies to CRC because there are other factors at play like local distributors taking us for a ride and their massive range.
  11. There you go: http://www.easybike.co.za/components/disk-brakes.html
  12. Yes that's the way I did it. Will try and push on to 3:00 for the next one. Can anybody give us a 45km split time to make the 3:00 cycle please? I know it's weather dependant but on a good day how much faster is the return leg?
  13. I normally average ~34 km/h at the Argus, OFM that sort of thing. My 70.3 bike time was 3:10 for an average of 28.5 km/h. Because I only do this once a year it's difficult to pace oneself. You can't just ignore the run to follow. This time round I will be aiming 3h cycle, 2h run, 40m swim plus transitions.
  14. You definitely get the back pack as your goody bag when you register. Also the quality is not such that I would purchase one separately.
  15. So Gwede Mantashe is unhappy because Elton, JdJ and Mvovo aren't starting. Do you think he would be able to identify those players mentioned in his speech in a line up? I doubt it. Heyneke has showed himself though and deserves it. If Rhule had a blue jersey he would have started ahead of the hopelessly out of form Hougaard. Ditto for JdJ.
  16. Good point this. The pros are long gone by the time I get there and have zero influence on my enjoyment of an event. Yet allot of the sponsorship and entry money is allocated towards prize money for them etc. On some level I'm sure the sport needs it's idols as a draw card to pull in the top young athletes into the sport but the pros are not as central to the sport as they might think. The worst example is Triathlon SA. I need to pay big money to them for the privilege of competing in IM70.3. For what? I'm not an aspiring Olympian so why can't I just enjoy the event?
  17. It definitely won't keep it's value better being a top end carbon HT. People always want the latest stuff and the cycling industry makes double sure there is enough new tech every 2 years for even the current top of the range bike to be outdated then. I'd rather have a 2013 alu bike with a shadow plus derailleur, through axels front and rear with new style Shimano brakes than a 2010 carbon bike with Juicy Ultimates or something.
  18. Just have a look at the forks section of the website. The have an all new rigid fork to replace the one in the bundle. Pop them a mail and ask them for a price with the new fork perhaps because the last time I mailed them they were very accommodating. http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FOOOSCF4709/on_one_monocoque_straight_steerer_carbon_fork
  19. Like Dangle has previously stated. It's about being the biggest cheese in your own lunchbox. If people just realised that there is no recognition to be found outside of the pro tours they could relax about their Monday morning Racetec results page.
  20. It's scary reading here about the prevalence among sub vets and other fun riders. Can we just hope that the kids of this world are clean? I would prefer that they channelled most of the resources to ensure it's impossible for age group kids to dope. We almost need a 'eat natural' brand ambassador team to serve as an example for kids. If I wasn't so damn slow I would have done it myself.
  21. Without LSD 100% is max. LSD changes everything (or so I hear).
  22. My favourite part of road cycling is working together in a small group (~12 people). I have more fun time trialling the full distance than worrying about my safety with 100 riders around me. I learned my lesson yesterday. Next time I'm not fast enough to get to the front of my group from the start I will fall back immediately and wait for a smaller group to form. My time might be slower but it will be much more enjoyable.
  23. Hope that bastard spent the night behind bars.
  24. Still an awesome race this. I don't have the fitness at the moment so the AL group dropped me like a bad habit on the 2 hour mark. I should have dropped off earlier because then I started enjoying the race. We formed a small group of about 8 for the next while which was much less nerve wrecking than the main bunch and once we hit the two climbs I just cruised home chatting to a few people along the way. Thanks allot to the traffic department and the city who did a fantastic job. There was a nasty crash in the AL group on the N1, I hope nobody was badly injured.
  25. Understood. Get the Look EASY ones, you won't be sorry.
