  1. Personally I prefer having a smaller multi tool and a separate compact chain breaker. You are going to use the chain breaker once in a blue moon and for that you get a clumsy tool in your hand when making small adjustments to your breaks etc. For short rides I only have the multi tool in by saddle bag. I have had many and prefer the topeak mini 9
  2.
  3. You get it. Now go and buy the Camelback. And an iPhone while you're on a roll.
  4. Tell me about it. First I got the I-Magic to kickstart some winter training a few years back and that didn't happen. Then I got lights for the MTB to ride in the dark only to realise the dark is the least of my problems in winter This year I decided to jog in the winter instead. Will see how it goes when I finish shaking off this flu.
  5. I have an I-Magic. Riding an indoor trainer is still worlds apart from riding your bike and will take allot of discipline. The sensations and road feel just aren't there. Riding a real life video or course is a novelty but because it's still doesn't simulate the things that make cycling fun you want to get the workout done sooner rather than later. For this reason I think you would prefer a 45 minute structured program (intervals etc) compared to riding a virtual course for 70 minutes. If I had to buy now I would get the Tacx Vortex. It has power measurement and a wireless head unit. So no waiting for the computer to boot up and plugging in cables, just clip the head unit on and do the workout. If you have no serious training goals the virtual trainer won't be enough to get you training indoors.
  6. I have been riding candys for a few years now. - I also prefer the solid feel of my Look road bike pedals compared to the loose float of the Crank Brothers - I have had the spring in the pedal break leaving me with no pedal since all 4 engagement sides rely on the same spring Based on this I am moving over to SPD soon.
  7. You lost me.
  8. If you followed my rule of ignoring all classified with exclamation marks or the word 'bargain' in them this would never have happened to you.
  9. This is exactly where I'm at. I haven't got the return on investment on my Anthem 26er yet, it still rides well and I'm not buying a new bike every 2 years. I'm saving up and when the time is right I will buy a 29er dual like a PYGA or Tallboy.
  10. If Scott was not competitively priced in SA I could understand a parallel import scenario but whenever I compare by LBS is cheaper than the US / UK on a currency conversion. I was looking at a HP folio ultrabook selling for $800 and HP South Africa want R12 999. Our bike brands are not like that anymore.
  11. This post does not add up. How is denying K&D clothing a separate issue from allowing others clothing in the name of safety? I understand it was colder than I can imagine and I don't believe Burry should be penalized but they were wrong in denying K&D the same.
  12. I've taken this event off my calendar. It's nice enough but I save my Knynsa trip for the 3 day race in June (RE:CM 200 this year). Because there is less people they can take you take places that are not possible with the oyster festival so the riding is unbelievable.
  13. If you are referring to the oyster festival one there is nothing you need to worry about. Maybe a few muddy patches by then but mostly just wide flowing roads.
  14. Which is why I don't understand the whole new Fox 2013 CTD line? Surely it's nicer just to forget about the suspension and ride? It makes the existing compression adjustment more understandable for the majority of riders but at the same time it encourages people who wouldn't have bothered to keep flipping the levers every 2 minutes.
  15. Yes, frames should be available from July. http://www.bikerumor.com/2012/03/12/nahbs-2012-ritcheys-new-logic-road-bike-breakaway-road650b-mtb-tandem/
  16. You also need to add Triangle to the mix. When I've earned my next bike my money will go to Coimbra because Ewan is the most knowledgeable person I've encountered in a bike shop, gives good prices and follows up. As for Action Cycles, I once wanted to look at a Specialized and the guy asked me if I'm a realistic buyer because he doesn't particularly feel like taking the bike down for me to sit on ...
  17. Lot's of respect for following your instinct and trying to do something.
  18. Just contact the fat tracks club. Very good active mountain biking club.
  19. I could definitely ride this. http://brimages.bikeboardmedia.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Ritchey-2013-Logic-Road-Bike01.jpg
  20. I'm more of a set and forget rider, prefer not to have to fiddle with the bike all the time so I can just enjoy the ride. To my mind anything that's making it more complicated for the rider is a move in the wrong direction. If there was some magical tilt sensor auto adjust to firm up for climbing maybe, that's what Steve Jobs would have insisted on. Until then just give me a good suspension design with platform damping that I can ignore.
  21. In that case grab a Millers and ignore my post.
  22. How much clearer could he be? From the SAB website: "Founded in 1895, the South African Breweries Ltd (SAB) is the South African subsidiary and historical birthplace of SABMiller plc, one of the world’s largest brewers by volume with more than 200 brands and brewing interests and distribution agreements in 75 countries across six continents. SAB is South Africa’s premier brewer and leading distributor of beer and soft drinks . For over 115 years SAB has been an integral part of the social fabric of our country and continues to play a crucial role in the national economy."
  23. Ok so everybody agrees that most bike companies develop a bike and them have it made in the east. We don't like Silverback saying Germany has more biking pedigree than SA and is therefore a better launch pad for a brand. Me I want my next bike to be made in SA even if I pay a bit more. Our labour costs are higher after all. I want my purchase to be an endorsement of our engineering ability as a nation. I want to know somebody in my country is feeding his family with dignity because he built a bike. We used to be able to produce anything now we are importing everything. So will Pyga frames also come from the East?
