  1. 100% Just that the OP didn't make wild accusations. He stated his case and gave enough info for everybody to respectfully disagree with him so need to for him to be flamed.
  2. Somebody has to disagree so I'll be the one. Right up to the point where JB had to cancel at short notice keeping the deposit made sense. At that point people were inconvenienced because they put a weekend aside and I would have refunded deposits. I still respect his contribution to the hub and I believe you guys that his work is of the highest standard but I don't believe the OP needs to be attacked here.
  3. Nice, sounds like a nice day outdoors with some friends, not like you're entering him for Ironman. Just get him some trail mix dried fruit and nuts, biltong, sandwiches etc.
  4. Jy praat baie en sĂȘ min.
  5. Definitely the Scott, that carbon frame is one of the best.
  6. I decided the same thing for my next bike. It seems with those longer chainstays it's very difficult to get the front wheel up and play a bit. You get massive traction on loose climbs and a stable ride with the Anthem but I would look at something a bit shorter. The Epic 29 and the Spark 29 both have ~448mm chainstays so that might be the number for a dual. The rocky mountain Element is 445mm compared to the Anthem's 462mm.
  7. "We follow an anticipatory response coaching model aimed at determining your goal and then your current state of conditioning with respect to that" So then does 'anticipatory response coaching model' mean questionnaire? Just trying to expand my vocabulary to epic standards here.
  8. Excellent post. But the correct and logical answer in this case is a philosophical one which is why I find it amusing that people are throwing around terms like 'scientific' and 'fact' as though they have derived every equation for every movement in the human body with and without blades. Back to your post. The next thing someone with a robotic hand wants to prove they have no advantage in the shooting events. If the line is not clear cut there will be chaos.
  9. Well yes I agree he has answered the question himself this week. The moment you bring the blades into the equation how do you prove that the blades are not an advantage. It's a different sport. At the time I supported the idea of him running the normal olympics but in hindsight it was wrong.
  10. You're not being honest with yourself about your own question. The scientific study as to whether his blades give him an advantage over an able bodied athlete is so complex that nobody on the hub can answer it without devoting months to the topic. You need a mathematical model for every movement of the human body. It is also a study that has to be done without prejudice. So the most anybody could contribute to you was their gut feel on whether he has an advantage or not. You actually just wanted people to agree with you that he should not compete.
  11. Cool, I haven't got experience with that. I'm assuming you need to train with that seat post angle to get your muscles used to it? Do you find the bike twitchy?
  12. You can get a set-forward seat post to emulate the seat post angle of a TT bike but from what I have read it will leave the bike twitchy with all the weight on the front wheel. TT bikes are designed to have a stable centre of gravity in that position. For us part timers the clip on bars where you can adjust the pads back are allot more comfortable than sitting in the drops for the entire 45km downhill back into East London. One last thing. I have a set of draft legal bars I bought because they look cooler on the road bike. I wouldn't advise you to go that route as you are leaning on your wrists and it's not as comfortable as full size ones.
  13. Hy moet wag. I don't understand people. They think all their friends and extended family are watching a live feed of their racing results and that people at work will admire them for their 212th place on Monday. If you are not at the olympics nobody else is taking your cycling seriously so you can relax if you lose 5 minutes in a race.
  14. If you are going to put them on a road bike you need ones where you can adjust the position of the elbow / forearm supports backwards. If you want the pads positioned directly above the bar like a TT bike you need the seat tube angle of a TT bike to get yourself that far forward. Looking at the Vision clip-ons posted above I cannot see that adjustment. The Profile Design T2+ for example allows you to make that adjustment.

    D2D 2012

    Do it. SBR is awesome.
  16. A 29er HT is in no way as plush as a 29er dual. That story was the marketing triumph of 2011/12. That way they could sell you a HT and 2 years later a dual.
  17. The difference between 2269 and 2295 is 1.1%. So your 90km ride measurement will be accurate to within 1km. No need to worry
  18. x 1000 In 2011 one could grab a seat and relax in the transition tent. This year there wasn't space for all the people. And the drafting on the bike was ridiculous ...
  19. Yes but I live in the middle of nowhere, impossible to sell stuff from here. I mailed the Momsen guys to suggest they offer the STR29 as a complete bike to save everybody the drama of trying to sell the left overs of a donor bike. That STR29 frame looks nice. But that's my last Momsen comment before I get kicked of this fred
  20. Thank Hairy, punched my numbers into competitive cyclist fit calculator and you are correct. The 23" top tube of the 16" looks right, no use pretending I'm taller than I am. I will start with a 70mm stem then. All Mountain Fit ------------------------------------------- Standover Height Range: 29.6 - 30.2 inches Virtual Top Tube: 22.4 - 22.8 inches Stem Length: 6.7 - 9.1 cm BB-Saddle Position: 65.7 - 71.7 cm Saddle-Handlebar: 49.4 - 51.2 cm
  21. Thanks guys, I definitely want the steel frame. Momsen was just my example of the value you get with the build kit as supposed to buying separately. I guess I will get the frame and sort out the details later. So now it comes down to sizing. I'm 172cm with a 79cm inseem and 72.5cm saddle height. Their sizing chart puts me on a 16" but the seatpost extension will be allot. The 18" only has a 602mm top tube and if I'm running a short stem that should be fine I think. My Anthem has a 595mm top tube and a 100mm stem. I think 18"?
  22. Thanks for your reply divernick, appreciate it. I am just thinking it would be nice if I could buy the steel single speed from a bike brand. Buying loose components is just not cost effective. Lets look at a Momsen AL529: If you buy the frame and components to build up the bike it would come to ~R18 500 at CWC / CRC prices. The retail price is R14 000 before you started negotiating. Separately the Reba on that bike is R4000 and the Crest wheels R5000 alone. So I'm thinking if Momsen sold a single speed steel 29er with a Reba and ZTR Crest wheelset it could come to ~R12 500. I would buy it in a flash as the same build with an Inbred frame is going to cost me R18 500.
  23. That is exactly it. Do you think it will classify as a tandem for the Argus?
  24. So how nice does this steel Inbred ride compared to say a Giant XTC 29er? Will an alu single speed be much worse? I'm a 26er dual rider hence my lack of experience with this. I've been busy with my imaginary single speed fantasy build but the cost makes it difficult to justify. Inbred 29er with Reba and XT wheelset : ~ R18 500 Inbred 29er rigid frame bundle with XT wheelset: ~ R14 000 For that money one can pretty much get a full XT 29er like a Vida 1, Scale 940 etc. I really want to build the steel single speed but building up from components is just so expensive.
