... (and 1 previous death, as mentioned in the thread above)...
As far as I remember the person who passed away didnt attempt the jump.
There's also a mention about it in this thread:
https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/179718-spruit-ride-new-piece-of-single-track/
Quoting from there:
Dear Spruit fairies (not sure if this is the right forum, but I'm loathe to start a new thread)
...
Please re-think this.
The project is run by Jozi Trails. Follow them on their facebook page or check out their web page http://jozitrails.co.za/
Maybe you could post on their facebook page? They are still piloting and I'm sure they'd appreciate any ideas to make it more user friendly.
when I end my ride on my garmin it asks to categories the ride, if I select commute/transport it uploads to endo as a commute without me having to change it.
What Garmin do you have?
We are just 33km short on a 50,000km mark for the group ... so this will be smashed this afternoon ... woop wooop!
4000 Hairy!

Or possibly just Zub who hasn't updated yet
It was a bit chilly this morning at the start of my commute. Started with minus 8 and it was minus 3 when I got to work. Have to mention though that home is a small holding, probably the reason for the colder than in town temps.
Wow!
Haven't recorded negative temperatures in the Spruit yet, although it's white with frost every morning. I feel it in my fingers and my toes!
What do you do for cold fingers and toes in that temperatures?
4042 Samson! Congrats!
You have been ramping up your commutes nicely lately. I will hit 4000km tomorrow morning.
It's a mix of having had to be sensible about recovery between the weekend training rides required for JoBerg2C and Mr Cat-i joining the commuting challenge and now wanting to get up early every day chasing those ahead of him ... he should reach page 1 of the leaderboard before the end of June
A few years ago (2016) 4744 kms was enough to get you to the top spot at the end of the year.
@cat-i
.... a big number coming up this afternoon !!!!
Woop woop !!!!
Life has been happening the last 3 weeks (but that is life ) and the gap at the top is shrinking and not growing.
Will be up to my normal commuting distance again next week.
And i need the cushion for when i go on leave. See Eddy is chasing hard.
Was chasing to get to my 3000 before you got to 4000. I did notice the last few days you were making it easier than it should have been. If nothing goes wrong, it will happen this afternoon or if I get away late today, then only on Friday morning.
Just got a Vitality email/spam about beating the blues.... however almost hidden away towards the end of the email. So Flight Booster coming to an end?
The Vitality Active Rewards Flight Booster benefit will soon come to an end. Boosts will apply as normal until 12 July 2019 for any flights booked. You can still save up to 35% on flights as a Vitality Health member.
Stopped reading halfway through and didn't see this.
Yes the dark comes earlier now, but only 2 weeks to go to the winter solstice (21 June), then it will start staying lighter later again
Can't wait for the sun to come back. Think I must plan a long(ish) commute for 21 June to celebrate the sun's return - only 2 weeks to go
Still of the bike but hoping to start riding by Thursday at the latest. Really missing the rides.
Winter is here and I may need to look at getting a better light as it will be completely dark by the time I get home.
Enjoy and safe riding!
Still the 'flu keeping you off he bike. Feel better soon!
3 Weeks of hols coming up! See you guys on page 2 of the leaderboard when I get back.
Hey Imploder, holiday's over. I'm coming for your spot on the leaderboard.
Not because I wanted to ... Mr Cat-i has been commuting with me for a while, always suggesting a shorter route home. 3 weeks ago he decided to join the commuting challenge. Didn't want to backdate his commutes, so only started counting 2 1/2 weeks ago.
Made me ride some detours yesterday and had to get up at 5 this morning for a longer ride so that he could chase the 2 dudes ahead of him.
It's a schlep to update after every commute. It's also a schlep to update after a couple of weeks of commuting.
No man. Just update.
Yesterday was my turn to be clipped by a motorist on my way to work. 1st time in 20 years of cycling
Hip, ribs and both hands badly bruised. Bike seems to have minor damage. Interesting that I lost no skin. Tuck and roll paid off.
Despite two red rear flashing lights and a hi-vis vest driver says she did not see me
Yikes, glad you're ok (ish).
I think sometimes they see but just don't register.
The more people commute, the safer we may become because maybe people would start registering us because they see more of us. Maybe.
WhatsApp Image 2019-05-04 at 12.35.10.jpegThings I learned from Commuting.
Cycling lanes means nothing in Cape Town
Eish! You ok?????
Thanks!
What an awesome race... had to call Jo back plenty times as I was in a world of pain
My commute this morning was tough
Congrats!

Oooh Samson looks like you're gonna get to 5000 before Close of Business on Friday!
