  1. We came out to your part of town and you guys decided to head even further south. one day our 2 clubs will eventually meet up
  2. And someone will still hit into him and say they did not see him.
  3. Day 1 Km 115 of 500
  4. Well this did not age well, I've spent a heck of alot more time cycling this year than I have ever before.
  5. No going to start a new thread for this year, anyone doing the Festive 500 again. This year I'm part of a group, so in theory should be much easier. Also a heck of alot fitter. Really looking forward to getting it done this year. Although, like last year, lots of rain predicted.
  6. why not a centre stand then?
  7. maybe someone here can answer this question, because I motorbike sales guy does not know. Honda sell an XR190 that they call a farm bike. Why would this bike have a kickstand on the left AND the right ?
  8. does the motor not have any markings/serial number/ et al. Could maybe use this to check with the manufacturer.
  9. excellent read, thank you for taking the time to share you experience. always love reading Munga reports/musings, they are most times very inspirational.
  10. On the first Saturday of the month we do TT laps. A roughly 15km loop, basically flat. Today I did 2 laps with the group, then stopped to help a lady with a puncture and did 2 laps Solo. I thought these charts from Intervals.icu shows an interesting story of the differences between riding with a group and without. The red line down the middle is where I stopped. Left is with the group and right without. Of particular interest was my cadence.
  11. I wan to ad a caveat to this. How does a shop stay in business ? It needs profit to pay overheads and keep the doors open. So shop around by all means, but do so within reason. I HATE chain stores as they tend to put the one man shows out of business because they can offer better pricing through bulk buying etc. The consumers pocket wins, but not the consumers long term overall experience. If you find a local bike shop that you feel you can trust and you get good vibes from, some place you see yourself purchasing from long term, then give them the opportunity to get as close to the best price you've seen, but if they can match, and the difference is small, buy from the little guy.
  12. I like this idea. I must keep it in mind
  13. my view. In most cases I dont want the stolen goods back, but the outcome I would hope for is that the thief is tracked down and "persuaded" to stop stealing. So by having the register, perhaps a trend can be picked up and make it easier to track down the thugs.
  14. you obviously know a little more detail about this. I'm curious as to the bike and what sort of distance between refueling. sorry for the hijack
  15. I always thought that data was overlaid retrospectively
  16. its like those Hijacking hotspot signs, you know its a problem area, we know its a problem area, but does anything get done about it ? A warning and a sign is like handing someone a band aid when their arm has been ripped off and then claiming you took action to help
  17. Thanks, was wondering where he was All the best Jewbacca, hope you recover soon and well enough to ride.

    Bent hanger

whats happened to the hub, the only correct answer is to buy a new bike
  19. my guess the wife said sell your bike, he puts and advert up to show he tried, but nobody wants to buy it.
  20. Thanks, so add some inflation what what and budget R1250 per person for next year.
  21. out of interest, so that I can try and plan for next year, what does an entry into the race cost ? I dont see it on the website. obviously there are the usual logistics for out of towners to take into account.
  22. Bucket list race, hopefully next year. But I'm feeling warm and fuzzy inside. There is a gent in our wash bay, very keen cyclist, but doesnt have the financial means to race as often as he'd like. Last year I got his boss to sponsor him a 947 entry, this year he managed to pick one up from a mate that could not ride. And then, whilst doing the 947 he was chatting to a team around him, they had someone drop out for the DC and were looking for a replacement. Everything was paid for, he just needed to say yes. Saturday night I get a message from him with a pic of him holding the medals, " Hi my brother, I finished, 7 hours" makes me all warm and fuzzy.
  23. it worked, thanks
  24. I see photos are up, the portal has my results, but Pursuit Index and my Gold noddy badge has not been updated yet.
