  1. I spent a week off the bike, then did some light(ish) rides and took careful note of where the pain was, oh and I also adjusted the cleat on that foot to be less toe out. I've come to conclusion that it is indeed shin splints, so I have incorporated an additional stretch into my post ride routine. So far so good although the shins are still a little tender at times.
  2. how do you flag a suspicious KOM ? There is a particular incline near me, the other day I see some chick gets a QOM that is faster than the KOMs, I look into her ride and she mentioned getting 2 punctures, from the speed up the incline I'm assuming she was in a car.
  3. the mindset part is very important. I often find that I'm doing ok on a climb, even though HR is high, breathing is laboured, legs are crying, blood is oozing out of my eye sockets, as long as I keep a positive attitude I can carry on, but the moment that positivity turns negative its game over. On sunday I saw the same thing in my wife. She is rather unfit, we were at Rietvlei, we turned a corner and before she could even see the hill she remembered it was coming and that was the end of her, she did not even attempt it.
  4. Rather foggy morning out East today. Visibility down to around 100m in some places. So Glad I have decent lights. And then Garmin died 15km in. Anyone know how to edit and activity on Strava? In Garmin connect it was easy.
  5. 100% correct I've just come back from helping a colleague who ran out of fuel. Emergency hazards going, emergency triangle 100m away. About 100m from teh emergency triangle is a traffic light. Both cars as far left as we can. 2 lanes, and the stretch of road after the traffic light is only around 200-300m long and not particularly busy right now. We still had cars barely missing us.
  6. You also need to take into account you specific needs. You've had a Hip replacement, so the hip muscles etc. have had added stress.
  7. A harder than expected loop around the airport. Even after a week of rest my body had no power and the heart rate climbed quickly.

Along the same vain, one of the wash bay cleaners here cycles around 30 odd km one way to get to work. Guy comes dressed in cycling kit etc. and has a few old bikes that he uses. The one day I go out to check on something and he is struggling with a flat on his road bike. The tyres are finished, falling apart. So I shot home quickly and grabbed 2 of my retired gatorskins I had still lying around. He was and still is a very happy chappy.
  10. amazing work by those involved.

how many grams per bottle ?
  12. if your hosepipe is pushing water into places it should not go either the seals in those places are stuffed or your hosepipe is producing pressure washer rivaling levels of pressure. Even a pressure washer used properly is not going to push water into the wrong places. Dust/dirt on the paintwork simply just wiped off is going to result in fine scratches, you want to get this dust/dirt off first, so rinse off with water. And if you live/ride along the coast or ride in the rain you want to rinse the salt and other natural chemicals off. Bikes are not made out of tissue paper, and the moving bits should all have at minimum some grease or a seal to protect them. Its only when using silly chemicals that breaks down this grease that you need to start worrying.
  13. from the picture on the box and the shape and material of the box it looks to be the same as the icetoolz one that I have.
  14. Around 10 years back I visited a business that had this on the wall above the reception desk.
  15. What’s second place prize? 2 defenders ?
  16. I get function over form, but thats when I do something, when a so called professional does it i want it to look neat too. From that photo it looks like things are not even level with each other.
  17. no, he should let me have it for free and I'll give him great exposure
  18. Why the heck can they not do these installations neatly. That installation would drive me insane.
  19. This is a bit of a slippery line to be on. I previously sold Volvo. Elsewhere they would be priced alongside the like of BMW and Merc, but for market penetration in SA they were priced cheaper. The end result is that people did not see them in the same class and thought they should be much cheaper than what they were. The flip side is it did work to some extent in term of market penetration, as a cheaper price with more extras those that did by saw the bargain. And more product in the market = more interest in the product.
  20. People also seem to think coffee should be served at Lava rivaling temps
  21. well done to every single person involved.
  22. theres a few coffee related goodies on OneDayOnly today.
  23. but you have that squatter camp there on Dann rd
  24. and dont forget sewage running in the streets for months. But recently a few suburbs have grouped together, donated funds and started fixing things themselves. It started off with them repairing and securing a main feeder cable that supplies the suburbs, they then managed to get hold of a grass cutter attachment and one guy has a tractor, so grass is being cut, and they are on going filling in potholes.
  25. the last part, I'm lazy to do it.
