  1. The incident mentioned was more than 30 years ago, I have (for the most part) kept things under control since then. Knowing you have a problem is the first step, recognising the effects of the triggers is the next. As mentioned above, the best way to deal with it is to remove yourself from the situation. Most of the times the trigger that is sending you over the edge is so stupidly small that on its own its not worth getting upset about. When you realise stupid things like this are tripping you up its time to step back. Learning to laugh at yourself with others is probably one of the best methods. But like I said folks, the incident was more than 30 years ago, I'm not a ticking time bomb waiting to go off, I've been down graded to a stink bomb at best.
  2. genius !!!
  3. I know where you live Cycling certainly helps clear the head of daemons. And I guess throwing some maturity into the mix also helps. Off topic. We should ride together again soon. Promise I'll leave the toolkit at home
  4. actually you have met such a person, me. fortunately after nearly stabbing a classmate with a screw driver in high school I realised I need to find ways to control my temper and since then have at the most resorted to extremely foul language. When there are daemons inside you (figuratively) there can be a series of triggers culminating in you loosing all moral sense. This is one of the main reasons I dont own a firearm, I dont trust myself. It does not excuse this guy, he is an adult, and by the sounds of things OP tried to defuse the situation. By his actions it also sounds to me that this is not the first time he has done something like this. He should get whatever is coming to him.
  5. B.T.W. someone posted about a website in another thread where you can see the price history of an item from takealot. Servaltracker.co.za Very useful for checking if that deal is actually a deal. I've just noticed the inverted we bought has increased by 18% in the last month, it will be interesting to see if they do a "Black Friday" deal on it tomorrw.
  6. Never done any MTB events, but with road events there has always been a cost involved in getting your pics, dating way back to the late 90's (the costs and quality of photos over the years is a debate for an entirely different thread)
  7. if your standard specials go up to 20% off, then your BF special needs to be 40% or more off to attract my attention and you'd better not tell me 40% off and then show an inflated regular price
  8. Yes similar to how the auGUST do it.
  9. why are you sticking route stickers to your bikes ? I dont think I've ever done that. But even the action photo sticker, I never bothered to put one on my helmet, and for the one on the bike I made a little board that I cable tied to my bars.
  10. So a couple of weeks in with the inverter trolley and we've had a number of load sheds to test it. (although not stage 6 style just yet). So far the biggest consumer seems to be the HT amp. The wife loves to have one of the "radio" music channels playing in the room next door while she works. She mentioned the other day that after a 2 hour LS, with Laptop, big screen, HT amp, wifi running the inverter showed 80% battery left when the power came back on. she did say it charged up to 100% pretty quickly but could not give me a time period. Last night power went off at 6, we continued watching TV and when power came back at 8 the inverter had dropped to 90%, but when I checked at 7:00 it was stll showing 100%. Overall pretty satisfied with the unit and its so cool to hear the generators starting up around you yet you've not been interrupted.
  11. Mr Min
  12. Same spot last year was sponsored by EuropCar. My guess is that company pays organiser to be at a prime spot, part of the package they pay for is photos with their branding plastered everywhere and to ensure maximum exposure all photos from this prime position are available FOC.
  13. hmmm, might need to look for a lady coach
  14. They did very well. I passed them on the M2 in the beginning , and just before we took the off-ramp off the m2 coming back near the finish they passed me.
  15. In the earlier years (when they still posted the photos to you) I used to keep pics from each race. During lockdown it was nice to go back through all the pics and see the changes, both in physique, equipment etc. So whilst their quality has gone down and their prices have sky rocketed has meant I have not bought a pic from them in very many years, its always nice to have. I think the last pics I bought was when I rode with my dad for his first CTCT in 2017.
  16. I'm looking at the sample pics of me online, the biggest thing for me that I'm noticing is that for the first time in nearly 20 years there is no boep. I think I'm going to buy at least 1 of those pics as a motivator to keep up with my off bike exercise work
  17. I've got 1 or 2 things that I want/need that I've been keeping an eye on for a little while. Should they pop up on BF at a price that is better than the normal specials I'll grab them, otherwise I try and give the whole BF thing a skip. I've already seen that the inverter trolley we bought a month back has had its price increase at one of the large online retailers, I'm watching the price out of interest to see what they do on Friday. But as has been mentioned, in SA you are hard pressed to find a proper bargain. We keep getting people here saying they arent buying now they are waiting for our BF specials. Which are going to be no different to our normal specials, but people are expecting 50% savings
  18. Eskom is planning on going big for black friday
  19. I still have 1 race from circa 2000 / 2001 where they had a different timing company, I have the photos, I have the medal, but there is no other record of it. I should get my lazy butt in gear, put all the evidence together and query it.
  20. Awesome wife you have there. If I havent ridden for a long time my wife will also tell me she sees it messing with my head, then she orders me to go for a ride.
  21. not like it used to be. It used to be flat and fast and point to point, it was awesome. The new route, not so much.
  22. ridiculous state of affairs. As said a few posts up, an authority organisation should force the timing companies to share their data, There can be T&Cs involved to protect the timing company, but race organisers should have access to this data. Probably explains the f-up in the seeding for this years 947
  23. A central system would be awesome
  24. well the wheel was invented, so there is no reason for anyone to run. And us folks with wheels do things differently. they need to adapt.
