  1. Was promised 100km, oh well. Joined a mates coaching group and rode at his pace. chilly -> windy -> hot
  2. If you compare them to other bike hooks they are well priced.
  3. sounds about right
  4. I seem to have missed the worst of it this morning, but tomorrow morning I'm out in the cradle and if the wind is like today its going to be a suffer fest. EpicRideWeather is predicting side wind going out and coming back.
  5. I'm a warm blooded male, if I said I never visited any such sites I'd be lying, strangely though, i never visited that particular site.
  6. Long story short - I found many emails along the same lines in my spam folder. Short story long - Every morning on my phone I go to mail, hit select all and "mark as read". Most of the mail is spam, but from sites I've subscribed to so I dont make them junk mail as occasionally I'm interested in what they are sending me. But, the "mark as read" and "mark as junk" buttons are so close together that I've occasionally hit the wrong button. And then I have to go scrolling through hundreds of mails to mark the ligitmate ones as not junk and get them back to my inbox. This is how I found the many emails like this trying to scam me. They all seem to reference the same site, one that I've not been to. (although I have been to others on occasion)
  7. updated for the modern era is a scam that claims to be from a one of the many free websites with adult videos. It tells you they tracked you on the site, activated your webcam and recorded you and if you dont pay them x amount they will send the video of what you did whilst browsing that site to all your contacts.
  8. We are not dealing with a normal person here
  9. The lighter kids bikes also help when the little one decides halfway through a ride that they dont want to ride home and you have to carry the bike back.
  10. plus minus here Last time I rode there you could cycle past, even cars were getting through.
  11. hahaha, I've actually been politely asked to cut back, so selling 2 older bikes and will replace with 1 better MTB. For the SS there is an old steel bike sitting at my parents that will one day land up at my place and be converted.
  12. yeah i know about Rook. Wasnt checking out to buy, was just interested as i saw them on display. Part of me would like a SS commuter, dont know what for though.
  13. Any one heard of these bikes ? https://simplesam.co.za/ I was at Thule a short while ago and they had a few of these displayed with Thule accessories. Nice simple commuter bikes. Looking at the website they're not badly priced either. South African company.
  14. Thats going to look really nice.
  15. that or being much much fitter than before.
  16. but you also had someone that was very enthusiastic to ride. That does help.
  17. hahahaha I recently re-organised my work shed. When I cleared everything out I realised I had offcuts in there from 20 years back that could/might/possibly be useful. But were never touched. Due to the bikes now finding their way into the workshed I had a lot less space so also had to get ruthless and chuck things out.
  18. I havent checked the stats, but my feeling is that despite the longer distance its actually easier than previous iterations. And I think I've done every route iteration since 1998.
  19. 🤬
  20. I'd imagine that in the last half of a Munga type event, tired, sore, sleep deprived, that being gentle is the last thing that comes to mind.
  21. Just over 2 months to go. Lets build up some excitement. I did a 3h23 last year after dropping out the bunch and riding solo from around Grayston offramp to the end. Hoping to stay in a bunch this year and do a sub 3, but if solo I'm hoping for a 3h10.
  22. I found with my daughter the jump from 16 - 24 would have been to much, but like you there is a younger child waiting for the hand me downs so going from 16 to 20 we viewed the purchase as serving 2 children. We did however do the bigger jump when the 20 was to small and went to a small 26". But it was helped by the fact that we left the upgrade a bit late so she had grown substantially.
  23. seems to me instead of his e-bike being chipped, the chip is on his shoulder.
