  1. Wow - sounds hectic. Glad to hear you are ok.
  2. Is the swim a mass start (are there even any left)? Is drafting an issue due to non-enforcement, or too many people on the course? Sorry, newbie questions, but trying to understand the issues.
  3. Yes - but at least not all of those hours are not spent by feet pounding the ground.
  4. But why? Surely the gains become so small that it's not worth it (for us weekend warriors anyway). Sorry - running is really my worst sport - it's literally the only thing holding me back at present. That is some insane distance, and the risk for injury becomes very high. Still an impressive feat though.
  5. How is this course? I was planning on doing my first 70.3 in January, but I think I could potentially be ready for this if I don't injure myself.
  6. You too! Wine at the next 70.3 we attend.
  7. That has got to hurt. Hope everything was insured.
  8. In Jhb sadly. :/ Would be awesome to find a training partner.
  9. Rest to let the muscles heal up. I have the same issue now in my left leg. Swim and cycling is fine. Can't run. Not a happy camper. Off to physio tomorrow and have a new regimen of pre and post run stretching to do.
  10. I think it's a bit soon for that. The pain and stiffness go away when I am active - so it's not at a point where I can't handle it. Will give it another week and see how it goes.
  11. I already do Yoga (which does some core work) - only manage once a week, but it's all I have time for. I have two strength sessions a week, but will add more core work and maybe up the intensity a bit.
  12. Hello and welcome Zander! Scarlett is sure easy on the eye. Just like the Cervelo. If the Cervelo were a red / orange colour, I probably would name her Scarlett.
  13. Waiting for bike deals. In the market for a new carbon road bike. There are some awesome Bianchis and Cervelos on sale, so keen to see what you have coming up.
  14. Well. ****. Now I am not going to trust the readings which is going to make me question my training. Will also test and report back.
  15. Another swimming question. This week I have done about 6km of swimming and have another 2.4 tomorrow. I just hit a new PR of 1km sustained swimming. Problem is my lower back is pretty sore and stiff. I did a lot of lifting and thought I had a strong back. Anyone else have issues with their lower back when starting out swimming?
  16. Have not had an issue yet, and I have been doing a lot of HR zone specific training this week, so I keep a close eye on it.
  17. Body fat percentage would be a better gauge to understand the room for weight loss.
  18. FitChef is a good way to lose weight as the food is so sparse in calories. FitChef may be clean, but I see it a crash dieting. The food is also not that great. It is salted hectically to make up for the blandness. Their brownies are amazing though (and expensive). I would rather just cut the sugar, alcohol and fruit (to an extent), and you should see the weight fall off slowly. I would definitely not recommend FitChet to anyone who is active.
  19. Love how even your socks match... Reminds me of a cheer squad.
  20. Some social plans for this evening have been cancelled, and I am so relieved because I can get my Wattbike out of the way earlier and get to bed... Those sacrifices are becoming real.
