  1. And then sitting at work with only one eye open... Aye. The struggle is real.
  2. Please can you add me as well. Sent you my number.
  3. Got my Fenix 3 HR Sapphire last night. It's huge, and a little heavier than I expected. But I love it. It's more than I expected tbh. Didn't get it to work with the Wattbike last night (landed up just using my phone as I wanted power readings more), so a tad bit disappointed about that. But put that more down to my ignorance than anything. http://imageshack.com/a/img924/5994/kSQx7f.jpg
  4. If I may ask, is it safe for a female to cycle on her own on the weekends (obviously while there is daylight). Have there been any issues where people have been knocked off bikes to rob them?
  5. That does not sound like the definition of "fine".
  6. Thanks. More reading... Bummed out as I don't have time to play with my new toy later (training takes preference)
  7. The Randburg branch has stock. Due South East Gate also have stock, and are R800 cheaper than NavWorld. I should be getting mine later today if my day pans out as planned.
  8. Hectic AmirL. Sorry to hear about your incident. Hope you recover fast.
  9. I have also come to this conclusion. However, isn't a new Garmin about to be released? I am hoping it's soon so I can pick up my Fenix 3 for a steal. I am terrible at counting laps, as I usually lose count 15 minutes into a session and I kinda guesstimate where I am a few times. I just hope that I overextend my training requirements.
  10. I agree, these things walk a very fine line and can often hurt innocent people or cause more suffering. However, what is not measured cannot be understood or improved. We can anonymize the data to a certain extent, but some statistics will certainly go a long way in understanding the bigger issues, which should ultimately lead to mechanisms to protect us. I have been following all the accidents and tragedies closely (and others on other pages, sadly), and we don't have a full picture. We can say with a certainty that there are more cyclists (and motorists) on the road than ever, so logically there will be an increase in accidents. But to what extent? A counter would be cool, but that's just a number. We have ways to track crime hot spots. Why can't we do that for these types of accidents? I am willing to put money where my mouth is, and help fund / design such a system. I have however been down this road where communities want to fix a problem, but people very rarely stand up and put in any effort. Everyone is very quick to complain and demand action, but the moment we are required to put in any effort, it's crickets.
  11. Wow, this is terrible news. RIP. Thoughts to the family and friends.
  12. Yes. Chlorine. Damn. My brain is fried this morning. And I am a diver! I am land locked (Gauteng), so will have to do some dam swimming.
  13. Thanks for this. Been mulling over this question. I don't think I would like my shoulders being restricted. Now I can just wait for some decent specials to come up. Get a new suit to deal with the neck chafing issue? So, is it normal to pitch at the gym pool in a wetsuit? Only done a few swim sessions, and have not seen one yet. Wondering how this will go down.
  14. Well, if you are counting the days, I would call that excitement. I would be bouncing off walls. Lots of hard work and prep for half a day on the road/in the water will do that.
  15. When does your taper start? I would rather count training days. So excited for you guys.
  16. Hi There, I am Melissa. New to triathlon. Last time I rode a bike was in my teens, so I am a complete newbie. Signed up here to learn more about bikes, and I think I am more confused than ever. Settled on a new Cervelo S2 despite my confusion. I will probably buy a mountain bike at some point as well. I also have a scuba diving problem. I sure don't have a shortage of expensive hobbies...
  17. Speedy recovery. Sorry to hear about you bike. You are taking the whole thing very well. Sounds like the event organisers have some additional work to do before the next event.
  18. Wing it? Haha. That's frikking brave. I suppose if the swim and bike legs are strong, there should be enough time to half run / walk the run.
  19. The more I delve into the physiological and psychological aspects of endurance training, the more scared I get. There are so many theories and training programs out there, it is pretty overwhelming to start. I also have heard stories where people have put in the time (1 year plus) and they land up DNF. To me, that is an issue with the training, and a failure in predicting the outcome of the race. I can't and won't accept a risk like that. I am using MyProgramGenerator. The training plan is an scientific outcomes based program, and takes your current fitness, and spits out a program for you based on a few assessements. There is a 4 week trial period if you want to give it a bash. I am not sure of the politics around here, but that's what is working for me. The program will be able to generate a plan for you based on your goals and apparently is very spot on when predicting completion times. My coach met with me to discuss goals, give a demo and answer any questions. All obligation free. I am now hooked. Edit: Also, you will get pacing guidelines for your race. I am far off from this, but would raise this with your coach if you go down this path. You are free to send me a PM to answer any questions.
  20. Had to look it up. http://wartrailchallenge.co.za/ for those who have not come across this event before. 120kms of mountain biking? Wow. I think this is taking things to another level. The race looks awesome. Maybe after my first full IM when I need a new challenge. Also means another bike. Think I am going to be broke for a long while to come...
  21. Jeez. I have a little brick session for tonight, and it's going to take 2.5 hours. Not sure how I am going to manage getting out of bed tomorrow, never mind doing consecutive tris...
  22. IceCreamMan, just wondering if you did the EL 70.3? If so, isn't this event a bit soon?
  23. More details. Please also look at bringing in some woman's tri suites and some other cycling kit (Coeur comes to mind). Our selection is pretty dismal imo.
  24. Wonderful. More Pain Machine it is. Still think it's an issue with the saddle, but I don't really have an alternative. Feeling a little masochistic.
