  1. Surely different makes of rollers have slightly different rolling resistances ? Comparing one persons average speed to anothers if they are on different brands of rollers would probably not be comparing apples with apples.
  2. In Ride or Bike mag about 3 months back there was an ad for audio tracks by Bob Roll which you could download off a website. I thought these might be good to listen to but the site no longer has these available for download. Did anyone download these ?
  3. I have been told that 45 minutes on an indoor trainer is as long as you should do in one session. I have done 60 minute sessions but after that my butt gets numb. Anyone done ridiculously long sessions ?
  4. That was Guiseppe Guirini. He went on to win the stage.
  5. What about Perreiro saying that he'll quit cycling if he's forced to take a DNA test ? he says it will be because cycling will have descended to new lows .... but why quit if you have nothing to hide ?
  6. OK but the 404's are about as light as you can get for that depth wheel. And of course you're paying premium dollar to get that weight. The price is prohibitive for most riders here.
  7. Regardless of performance most riders still want to at least look good. These wheels just don't cut it in that regard. Is 1750g considered heavy for aero wheels ?
  8. Souns like some of you actually understood what Paddy Agnew was saying. I couldn't hear a damn word ! All he seemed to do was repeat the riders names over and over; "Petacchi now and it's Petachi, Petacchi and then Bettini, Bettini..." But Perarace I couldn't agree with you more .... this new guy sounds like he's just stepped off a space ship from Mars and has never seen a bicycle before. He's asks the dumbest questions like "how much time do you lose when you fall in a crash ?"
  9. Media slam Basso as a 'liar' Posted on Tuesday, May 08, 2007 - 17:39 Ivan Basso was named a liar as his announcement that he only planned doping - but never actually took any drugs - drew harsh international media reactions on Wednesday. "From hero to liar," said Swiss daily Tagesanzeiger bluntly about the Italian cyclist's statements from Tuesday. Speaking to reporters in Milan a day after his alleged confession to Italian sports prosecutors about his involvement in a Spanish doping scheme, Basso said "I admit to having attempted to dope (myself) ahead of the (2006) Tour de France" and that "I have always won clean." The statement was judged "lukewarm" (Switzerland's Basler Zeitung), Spain's Marca spoke of a "farce" and British daily The Guardian drew a comparison to former United States president Bill Clinton. "The Tour of Italy winner Ivan Basso's defence against doping allegations was following the path taken famously by the former US president Bill Clinton when he declared he had smoked marijuana but did not inhale," said The Guardian. The Italian media were as merciless with their Giro d'Italia champion. "Basso's bomb turns into a jumping-cracker," said La Nuova Sardegna, others including La Gazzetta dello Sport spoke of "full breaking" by Basso, and Il Manifesto said that "Basso quickly went into reverse." But, with Italian authorities continuing their investigation and the Spanish probe reportedly linking Basso to 2004 payments to the alleged mastermind, doctor Eufemiano Fuentes, the truth may still be heard, some papers said. "Ivan still has the chance to speak out for himself before he is forced to do so," said La Gazzetta dello Sport. Corriere della Sera said: "Basso, you have no choice: tell the truth." Belgium's Het Laaste Nieuws said the first news on Monday had led to big hopes to shed further light into the Spanish affair, but that Basso did then not dare to implicate other riders. "The leader group has nothing to fear from Basso. There is no way that he will deliver his cycling colleagues and clients of Fuentes to the gallow," said Het Laaste News.
  10. Basso fistly denied everything which was stupid because they were going to get around to the DNA testing eventually. Then when he realises that the DNA test will show positive he suddenly has a feeling to get it off his chest and admit to being involved - but yet still tries to act like he actually did nothing wrong. He did the crime and was caught - he should have the guts to admit what he did. Who wants guys like this in the sport ? By acting like he knows no-one else involved does he have the best interests of the sport at heart ? And a good point by Velo - if he was only beaten by Lance in the Tour and now Lance isn't around then why the need to try doping ? They've established he's a cheat. Now he's showing he's a cheat and a liar.
  11. Of course there will be more deposits from Shimano users because there are more of them. Shimano churn out their mass-produced stuff by the millions so that the masses have something to use. So how about Shimano users buy 3 signs for every one Campag user
  12. Was Lemond in the big blade up the climb ? He was flying. Great memories .... got goosebumps at the end there. Pity about that Yank commentator spoiling it though.
  13. Luxury ? I think many can afford tubbies but the move towards clinchers has been mainly because the weight has come down. Years ago the tubbies were much lighter compared to clinchers than they are now. Don't want to start yet another tubbies vs clinchers thread but I don't think I'll move to tubbies - the price is prohibitive but mostly it's the fear of what the heck I would do if I got a puncture. Can any tubby riders give some info on how you "change" a puncture and how long it takes and if it's more hassle than changing a clincher.
  14. How about a Cervelo SLC SL with Record and some Zipps ?
  15. Those wheels must be worth twice as much as the rest of the bike.
  16. Whitesox you're the typical cycling a-hole that gives the rest of us a bad name. Why mock someone else because he doesn't ride league ? Popeye could easily be higher than D if he did more events but just because someone doesn't ride league you think you're superior. You'd rather cross the white line than be dropped - you think that just because the funriders aren't racing for points that they don't also battle with the wind. The rules apply to everyone and without all the "funriders" to increase the numbers there wouldn't be an event at all or any points for you to race for. And as for the argument that the rules were poorly enforced - cyclists should be trying to do the right thing regardless of who's watching.
  17. Hype

    WoodStock

Titus where in Kenilworth do you work ?
  18. Could be wrong but I think it's not done here because of the lack of numbers. But maybe if they used the Cat system it would attract more riders to ride league.
  19. So Marius, when you get your bibs and they have skid marks in them you'll know why.
  20. Am I the only one that thinks the age groupings for the leagues are strange ? I mean you have 35 year old guys riding the Tour de France but here in the good ol' Cape, you turn 30 and you get to ride in a seperate group.
  21. Anyone tried Bergamo bibs ?
  22. Marius do you go on night rides ? Maybe the hubbers should organise a group MTB night ride. I imagine that riding on the road at night is too dangerous although I have been on some rides at 5am in winter when you can't see 2 feet in front of yourself it's so dark. Scary, yet you feel hardcore.
  23. That cyclo-cross was incredible. What a comeback by the Belgian rider on the last lap.
