  1. It all depends on the break. If it's clean and plated then 4-6 weeks should be okay. If it's broken in 3 pieces (like mine was) then closer to 8-10 weeks. I was on the road bike after 8 weeks but only started mtbing after 10 weeks and still took major strain with the technical bits. Having said that, try it yourself, your shoulder will soon tell you how happy it is with you.
  2. That thing looks like a farm gate with wheels
  3. Yes, pump it too soft and it will bob... but so will 90% of all FS. That frozen CB will only keep you cool for the 1st hour and that's the hour that you normally want to be warm because it's so early in the morning .
  4. To answer Slowbee, yes it does have more bob than the Anthem. However, Golefty has a very valid point here: "For an active bike you have to make the trade off of either controling the amount of bob to get the sensitivity or make the suspension firmer and let the tyre handle small bump sensitivity." I play around with my orbea's shock pressure depending on the terain I'm riding. While training for the epic and doing long gravel road type stuff, I was pumping it real hard and riding without the lockout. Then it performs almost like a hardtail, only absorbing the big bumps eg. errosion washouts etc. However, if I'm riding something like Delvera or Jonkershoek, I ride it much softer to avoid tail chatter on the technical stuff and then simply lock it out on the hardpack (the orbea has a remote lockout). In all honesty, the only time you feel you are wasting energy is if you ride it soft on the tar, but that's what the lockout is for. btw, let's not even get into the "pedalling efficiently" debate ie. smooth circles, because that also has a huge impact on the amount of bobbing you're going to experience. btw... Marius, 2 bottles are the deciding factor for many unsponsored endurance racers. Many hate racing with a camelback as it tends to make you overheat in karoo type temperatures and places strain on your lower back and backside... maybe that's why your legs fall off after 60kms on the mtb
  5. The frame does have a lot of bob, I noticed that at the Epic as well, but David might have been riding it super soft. It also has a manual lock-out on it, I wonder if they are going to make it remote like the Orbea?
  6. Looks like it's built for a midget!!! The question is: will it make it through the Epic in one piece? It fairly simple to built a light weight bike if you have the truckloads of cash, the trick is making it robust enough to get you over the line.
  7. A few pics I snapped along the route: Erica Green nearing the finish Dust at the start Bad start to the day The team I played backup and mechanic for - Gemini Team Bulls nearing water point 1 David at water point 1 Collin doing what he does 2nd best Tiaan Strauss... btw, he rides bike almost as well as he played rugby! Team Gemini again Fourie
  8. No worries Pedal, glad we could help. Yea, about that Pizza... we had all good intentions to go on an absolute bender in Hermanus but the stress of the week caught up with us and we were all asleep by 11pm... sad but true!
  9. Dude, are you sure those okes are only trading bike parts??? Count your kidneys when you wake up in the morning .
  10. They're so cheap just ziptie two frames together for the tandem...

Okay, let's all hit it at once and see what happens
  13. Thanks for your help, that's pretty much what I had scheduled for this week, but at a way lower intensity. The running is low intensity stuff, just to get the legs used to pushing up those steep hills. If you don't do it, you suffer muscle stiffness on the first day you're forced to hike a bike
  14. Hi Bruce, thx for the feedback. I had no choice but to rest, my body was going into total lockdown . btw, this is training for the Epic, not league rides. Training schedule (last week), built up to this by adding 10% per week for the past 3 weeks: Mon am: 30m run Tues pm: 2h15m Hill work Wed am: 45m run pm: 2h15m Tempo ride Thurs pm: 2h15m Hill work Fri am: 30m run Sat: 6h LSD with a few climbs Sun: 4h30m LSD Lem, ek en Henning gaan op vir die Lighthouse. Sal graag jou Boland trip wil doen maar die verlof raak nou bietjie min. Miskien kom ry ek in de oggend en kom werk toe om te slaap in die middag
  15. You can, but then you need to do it regularly as it collects more dust. WD40 is the easiest to get down there (flush it).
  16. Bruce and other wise ones, I need some advice plz: How much work should be done/not done in a rest week? I've been on a 3 week build block finishing with a 20hr week yesterday. This week is rest week. The idea was to do 3 x 1hr30min sessions this week (easy spins) and 2 x 3hr sessions on the week (also easy). Am I on the right track here or should I be doing more/less? Ta B
  17. Last time I looked there was no shoulder on the way to Jonkershoek .
  18. Glad to hear you're okay ismail. You're absolutely right, the fother muckers are absolute cowards. Don't be afraid to fight back if they don't have a firearm. Try and get your bike between you and him or grab the nearest brick, rock... whatever you can find to defend yourself. As soon as they realise they can get hurt they retreat.
  19. I felt like this just before Christmas. 3 days later I got sick with the flu and was forced off the bike for 6 days. Started training again on the 28th Dec and got the mojo back el pronto. Listen to what your body is telling you and take a rest... or it might just make you take one .
  20. If they're hydrolic, it sounds like they haven't been bled properly or they're leaking somewhere. Getting rid of all the air bubbles is an art form .
  21. I could have sworn I saw Chickenlegs training in Stellies this past week. I passed 3 Rabobank riders on Wednesday eveing going in the opposite direction (all without helmets) and the oke sitting on the back on a mtbike looked just like Chicken.
  22. but it's a hardtail !!!!! This is 2008, where's the dual???
  23. Not sure about the garmin but I know you need to calibrate your Polar quite regularly if you want accurate readings.
  24. Hey Admin, what we looking at in terms of $/month to advertise on the HUB? Maybe we can do some legwork for you.
