  1. 1 set of spare brake disks, Chainbreaker, Master link, Chain lube, 2 x Air boms, 2 x Spare tubes, Multi-tool, Rain jacket, energy bars.
  2. Baie bang!!!... but may I remind you that day 2 of the Epic has 3091m of climbing in it... and that continues for a further 5 days , so best we get used to it . Besides, a lift is only a phone call away
  3. Do I understand this correctly... you are slating the great TITUS??? You know this means that you may never post THAT picture again
  4. Tell him to ask the shop for a loan frame, shouldn't be a problem.
  5. Long one Saturday and Sunday this weekend. See they're predicting some rain this weekend as well though. If we do Groenlandberg, I suggest we ride there and back... how far will that be Pops? Henning suggested we add it to the 4 passes route. If we're too stuffed to make it home we'll just get the missus to collect us in Franschoek or Stellies.
  6. Only the rear stays are carbon, the rest is alu. If you're looking for a cheaper full carbon bike, go for a Solis.

    Sweet gadget

I think it's best not to know what the hell does on behind you in the traffic, otherwise we might all just turn into dithering idiots to afraid to venture out the front door

    Ice ID

Got mine last year, very nifty Just wish the lettering was slightly larger but I can understand that you are limited with space.
  9. Post pics please... on the couch
  10. Something I find really strange is that road bikes come out with a 172.5 standard and mtb's with a 175 standard, why the difference? One would think mtb's cranks would be shorter to give more ground clearance or are they longer to give more leverage in those granny gears? So many questions... where's mr boredman Having said that, I also recently (9 months ago) moved up to 175's on the roadbike and I'm finding them way better than the 172's. It's difficult to pinpoint where they are better but I definetly find I climb better with them. However, on the flat roads I struggle to spin the bigring in anything lower than a 18 at the back, so I keep it in the 39 and drop it down at the back (this is while training, while racing it's in any gear that makes it go forward fastest). btw, i'm 1.74m tall... or rather... short.
  11. Schweeeeeetttt ride !!! You doing the Epic on it?
  12. I'm also suffering with the motivation at the mo. Gone off the bike altogether and struggling to get my ass out of bed in the morning. I think my body is trying to tell me to take a break. I'm even struggling on the bike now, feels like I peaked for the Burger and now I'm on a slide ... BUT I'll ride the feeling away !!!!! No time to rest with the Epic 3 months away. Colonel, how's the epic training going? What sort of milage you guys doing per week?Buff2007-12-19 05:46:09
  13. oclv110 has it spot on, burn more calories than what you put in, full-stop. Most of these "off the shelf" diets do work, but that's only because they stick to the above principle. Problem is it's not sustainable because who the hell wants to chow cabbage for 6months . Your balance of Carbs & Protein need to be correct as you want to promote muscle growth as well. Find out what your base metabolic rate is, work out a food eating plan that will provide less than that and away you go. Generally, something like this will work if you're in training: Breakfast = 1x Oats so easy & Protein shake Tea = 1 x Apple Lunch = Protein & Carb eg. Tuna or Chicken on Wholewheat bread Tea = 1 x Fruit Supper = Protein & Carbs eg. Fish, Chicken or Pork with steamed veggies Add plenty water and snack on Almonds if you need something to tide you over between meals. Btw, often people gain a kilo or two in the beginning of a diet but don't stress. If you're training hard you normally experience some muscle growth if your diet is correct (remember, muscle weighs more than fat) before the fat burning begins.
  14. Best bet is to go talk to someone who's into running at Sportsmans Warehouse. Asics is the most popular running shoe in SA for a good reason, so you won't go wrong there. I run with Asics Cumullus and I'm very happy with them (just bought my 3rd pair) but I'm a neutral so you'll probably use a different model.
  15. Our weekend started crappy when a collegue phoned us after getting home from our Christmas function on Friday afternoon to find her husband dead on the kitchen floor (heart attack) . Very sad to lose someone close, especially at this time of the year.
  16. Just to let you guys know that Pops lost his boet this weekend in a fishing accident. A lost to any Hubber is a lost to all of us. Deepest Condolences Pops, ons dink aan jou.
  17. Let me guess... you saw the new 2008 Orbea didn't you????
  18. Yeah, I'll go with Pops on this one, go for the Anthem. I've ridden the Epic and it's more like a hardtail than a dual. But if that's what you want, go for it.
  19. I'm up there between Christmas and New Yr and need to stick in some long base miles, so I'm looking for a group to join. Many moons ago they used to leave from Coimbra cycles in the mornings, do they still do those rides? Staying in Newton Park, so pretty close by.
  20. This thing you say is true
  21. Actually, a really fat woman wearing one of those little G-Strings that stick out the back of their pants when they sit down worry me way more than lipstick. I had one sitting across from me in the M&B over the weekend and it put me off my food.. yuck!!!! Why oh why must they do that??? It looks super sexy of some women but please, they need to draw the line somewhere... even if it's a white line .
  22. Are you smoking your socks dude???? Where the hell did this come from???
  23. Sounds like a plan... but seeing Sundays a recovery ride, how about a braai Saterday night?
  24. I'm not going to Stillbaai anymore, so it will be long miles around here. I suggest you stay away from the 4 passes route, the roads will be hectic. Rather stick to the routes exiting North. How about the Durbanville gravel road, through to Paarl, 1 loop of Paarl mountain and back again. That should give us 140km plus.
