  1. Don't worry about it Pops, I understand excactly what it feels like, no need to explain . That's a stunning climb when the weather behaves itself. Next time we tackle Bainskloof.
  2. Wow, so many to choose from... but guess the 5 day tour of the Overberg by MTB culminating in the 7weekspoort mtb challenge takes the cake followed closely by surviving another year in SA.
  3. Pops, I think the only reason it took so long to climb was because the "gees" had left us. I reacon we'll go up there much quicker on the road bikes. My bene was gister lekka lam. Ek en Henning het so 100km weer gedoen, maar baie rustig. Ek kort rus, baie rus, roll on Christmas.
  4. Or you could just tell then that you're gonna mention how sh!t their service is on thehubsa, that should scare them sh!tless and they'll replace the car .
  5. I'm with you on this one Johan. My 3 yr old fell off her Raleigh because the brakes never worked (down the driveway) and now I'm struggling to convince her to get back on it. She feels way safer on her tri-cycle... can't blame her though. The build quality is shocking. Even the damn pedals are useless i.e. hardly able to rotate on their bearings.
  6. No worries. Nahoon is the perfect spot and HQ Cycles is actually in Nahoon (which borders on Beacon Bay). You will finish every day having to climb a nasty little hill to get home. Take plenty fluid with on the rides, it's very humid up there this time of the year.
  7. Hi Dylan, I'm originally from EL and know the area well. You're pretty limited with safe training routes but you'll certainly get strong frrom riding there because it's either up or down. They breed hills in the E.Cape. The best route is through Beacon Bay and out on the road to Stutterhein. That road has a broad shoulder and good surface as is the most popular training route for local riders. Other choices are the N2 either side of EL, but I would recommend that or the road out to King Williams Town. You could also give the EL Grand Prix circuit a go as well, that's a lot of fun. Watch the local paper (Dialy Dispatch) as well, you might find a funride over the Xmas period. The local bike shop in Beacon Bay is HQ Cycles, go chat to them about joining a group in the mornings. Spoke to PPA and the roads dept, they're hoping the water will drop by this evening, so it's still a GO from PPA side. Hold thumbs, otherwise we'll all be doing a moerse Hub training ride tomorrow morning

    DC Route

Heard it as well... there is no alternative, the road between Montagu and Ashton has been closed. Wonder when PPA is going to make a call?
  10. Cool, I get to meet Nix, also reseeded into B
  11. I've been riding a steel Bianchi (Columbus OS tubing) for the past 10yrs and only recently upgraded to a carbon Solis (2 months ago). I can honestly say that for rides over 100km's, the Bianchi blows the socks off the Solis. Steel is way more forgiving on the body. However, the Solis climbs like a scaulded cat because it rigid & light. My next road bike will definitely be titanium as I believe you'll be getting the best of both worlds
  12. BBBR - If you're looking for a service centre then try Mark's Bicycle Workshop just off Voortrekker rd. Okay, I'm a bit biased because he's a good mate of mine but he only became that because he did such a good job on my bike. Your bike will thank you for it . Mark @ 021 949 5219

  17. Hey Nellie, here's another one for your collection... these belong to a LBS owner... can't show the rest because he's not wearing much (my 40th b/day party) . Groot Lem, Latrinus & Naas might recognise them, they've raced against them plenty times...
