  1. Don't worry, so am I, I still run V's. The only time it will bother you is if you're doing something like the Epic when you need to worry about carrying spares ie. pads for both. For normal day to day honking it'll be perfect.
  2. Haven't done it but have given it some thought. Perfect combo because most of your braking is up front anyway and you save some weight at the back. Bit of a pain for carrying around spares though? and wheels bought singularly are more expensive.
  3. I broke my coccyx in a motorbike accident many years ago and it's furking aina. I couldn't sit for a month afterwards, so if the facture is bad, I can't see Kloden sitting on a saddle today, for sure!
  4. at least you've got over that sarcasm thing you had going
  5. Every 2nd night... but between you and me, it helps zip, I still suck at climbing. Apparently it has something to do with the spare tube I carry around my waist but I'm convinced it's genetic
  6. That aint no classic, a classic is an old bike (check wiki )... that my friend is a GIOS Carbon... bring one home for me plz!!!!
  7. Sold... think I made my wife's day.
  8. Something like "oh no, that was so close, I'm sure I'll do better tomorrow" NOT !!!
  9. You bring the matches I'll bring the petrol !!!
  10. A carbon scott for 10K? If the comps are decent what the hell you waiting for???
  11. It's not all doom and gloom, they can take pretty decent knocks without breaking. I have two mates who ride carbon Scotts and they've had no hassles besides the rear shock issue, which seems to be sorted now. Both bikes have been through 2 Cape Epics, 2 Karoo to Coasts and numerous other one day races around the country without any problems. btw... both of them fall often as well. If they were as crap as some of you make out, knowone would be riding carbon.
  12. Are you related to Naas Botha?
  13. and don't forget Boonen's win yesterday, awesome sprint by Tornado Tom till they saw the replay ... but I still love the 2 wan*ers.
  14. No, I don't think it will make a huge difference, the smaller LED's just aren't potent enough.
  15. are these the same carbon frames prone to cracking or the new jobbies that mtn are riding?
  16. Don't know so well SwissVan. I heard that rumour as well during the race (spred by Marius btw) but then spoke to a guy riding them at the end of the 7th stage and he recond he'd buy the damn factory it he had the bucks, that's how impressed he was. I'm guessing 50% of the Transalp field rode RR's, coz that's all you saw in the bikepark... hard to miss with their white sidewall lettering.
  17. Hey C50, ... no need to, it wasn't that cold. Did fall my ass off running through the dump site though. Murphy's law, I pick up more roadrash while falling during a run than I have over the past 5 yrs of riding on the farm My daugter loved playing Dr. on dads wounds though. Beaut of an evening though! Yeah, take that wheel to Mark, it'll save you plenty of frustration. Maybe you just getting too strong, tell Mark to put in motorbike spokes btw, that was his wife I was running with... absolute running addict. Doesn't look like I'll be able to get out here early today so Delvera is out. Besides, my legs are feeling shattered, think I might be overdoing this running thing
  18. I love Racing Ralphs almost as much as Minty loves his Titus. They are excellent allrounders. Haven't tried the others though.
  19. Yep, excellent stuff and well done again TCS
  20. C50 - Yep, still gonna go riding tomorrow. The response has been poor to the night ride so I might take the afternoon off and enjoy the good weather with a trip to Delvera instead. CptDura - check out this link for full instructions. It does however mean you will have to import parts but it's fairly inexpensive due to size (small) (they post in envelopes) http://myfwyc.org/bikeled/DIY_LED_Bike_Lighting_Guide.html
  21. Not riding tonight (my message was posted yesterday) but will be going for a run on the farm this arvie, around 5pm. Enjoy! Had a great ride last night, that new light worked way better than my old cateye, I was even able to do the older of the technical ST (not the section over the rock).
  22. "A real climber would never fit a 25 - Marco Pantani" and that should read... "A real doper would never fit a 25"
  23. Quick review: Besides the colour (sharki green) the unit looks fairly sleek. I removed all the straps and ziptied the unit to my helmet (photo to follow). It runs 4 normal LED, 2 on each side of a single 3W LED and has 6 settings, 3 to dim the LEDS and 3 to DIM the 3W. <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Battery life (3AA?s) is claimed at 70hrs on bright for the 3W and it casts an 80m spotlight beam (never bothered measuring it but it?s far). A rechargeable battery kit is also available for it ($30). Does it work: As an off-the-shelf head light unit (excluding the ridiculously priced bike lights that can be helmet mounted), it?s got to be one of the best I?ve ever seen as far as brightness goes (the 3W spot). The 4 LEDS are pretty useless for biking but will work just fine for hiking (they compare to the Petzel Tikka). The drawback of the 3W is that it casts a rather focussed beam so your peripheral vision isn?t very good. Make no mistake, it gives you enough light to see the trail clearly but you?re definitely going to need bike mounted light if you?re planning on honking it. On normal gravel road the medium dim setting (3W) is more than adequate and you can cruise comfortably at around 25km/h. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Price: R515 Available: Cape Storm
