  1. The last 90mins of live racing to be broadcast on S8 for the men with a 50min slot for the women beforehand and highlights of 2019 before that.
  2. 'Closest' I've experienced was sitting in a tent at about 5950m on Aconcagua when a storm moved in quickly. Talk about the smell in the air and the charge. Had a couple of Italian climbers not far away screaming their heads off, first time they experienced lightning. Needless to say - no sleep that night and had to dig out of the tent in the morning after a significant amount of snow fell.
  3. I also remember a lot of BigH's contributions. Walking into a glass door somewhere? He got very animated over freeway cycling and roads classification.
  4. 11 333 - Joined November 2009. Found the hub when looking to buy a roadbike for Ironman Bought one from 'ChunkyMonkey' if I remember correctly. Haven't seen him on here in years.
  5. It seems that the new route results in a bit less climbing over the first half, looks like almost 400m less if I'm not mistaken. My training is sort of on par with last year at this stage and can hopefully ramp it up a bit over the next month. Main aim is coming in at under 24 hours, with the new start time even a 27 hour ride guarantees a daylight finish How is everyone else getting on?

    Cricket......

Number six down for 131, Shamsi again.

My 'favourite' retirement test - Kallis scoring a hundred in his last innings against India.
  8. No comparison. I find 36One much tougher - apart from the distance it is more climbing per km and the fact that you only start late in the day brings fatigue into the equation much earlier. Heat is also a much bigger factor(for me at the back end) than for Trans.
  9. Go have a look. Someone turned it into a vegan discussion - for a couple of pages.
  10. Any feedback from riders who rode today?
  11. Maybe we should head over to the vegan thread for some 'mechanical' discussion, I'm directing them over here
  12. Head over to the 'stuff I learnt the hard way....' thread for some vegan discussion Seriously.
  13. Shawshank is one of my all-time favourites!
  14. Completely agree on the red card. I know Kobus Wiese is also very vocal about it - needs to change. I also think something along the lines of what you are suggesting should work.
  15. My butt sometimes got the imprint of the underside on it when I was growing up Daai goed het 'n man se gat laat brand!
  16. One of my all time favourites! Would love to see PJ in SA!
  17. You will get feet wet again between the two Fangs and some splashes in the lead-up to MAC. We always change socks at CP4. We also put some wetwipes in the box, helps to feel nice and fresh for the last stretch. There are a couple of water crossings after the Big Dipper that you can slowly roll through without getting feet wet.
  18. I would take this with a bag of salt or typical Wikus humour. As Vetseun said earlier on the thread, prepare for the worst(get your mind right) and it won't be so bad, nothing you can do about it but ride what you get, including weather and road conditions.
  19. Team Number 68 - Almal op die Trein. Going for 'official' number 10 and unofficial number 12. Aiming for a 14 -16 hour finish.
  20. As Velo says, just at the point you are starting to wonder whether you have missed it...At least you won't have to start climbing straight out of the CP either.
  21. When you hit that 'roller' section you pass the Police station on the left. Zandvlakte is about 10km's from there, just after the last steepish down. The farm is on the right with the school across the road on the left, just after this the road makes a right left and about 2-3km's from there you go through the reserve gate. Velo won't be able to pinpoint it, he goes through there much too fast...
  22. So you are telling me to just open my eyes and read
  23. Yip. Will change the race dynamics and logistics...and enable me as a back marker to finish in daylight...I hope. 1st WP at 58km and the 1st CP at 99km. Wonder where the CP will be, might be a slight route change as well?
  24. Mmmmm, not a peep from theHub regarding the 2020 version, or did I miss something?!? What I did not miss was grabbing myself an early bird entry at halfprice
