  1. ahhh, I need three more months training time
  2. Good try - it is the Rockies!
  3. This was out at Red Rocks - it's about 30 minutes outside of downtown Denver, Colorado. Cool place - always come across wildlife when I've been out there. This was a herd of about 20 Elk - Most of them have shed their antlers for spring, but a couple still had theirs.
  4. Not too bad actually - roughly 30 to 35 Fahrenheit which is a few degrees either side of freezing. Problem is, with it being spring and the trails unfreezing, means tons of mud until it gets warmer.
  5. Trails still thawing out
  6. A little present to myself to get me back into biking
  7. Getting back into biking after a few years off
  8. That mongoose looks nice - keen to try out a fat bike (but is it a waste to have a fat bike in South Africa?) Anyone have one here?
  9. Yawn, get over yourself. Stop behaving like a tjop.
  10. Not sure how this would hold up - remembering law classes back from varsity days, if you are in possession of stolen goods, you have no claim over them, even if you paid for them without knowing they were stolen. So even if he bought it from someone, without knowing it was stolen, he cannot lay charges, as it was never his ... my 2cents
  11. Prince Albert was the one place I was avoiding after today's threads!!! Thanks for all the info, going to have a look through it now
  12. Help So I’ve got nearly a month of leave coming up and need to do something. I was thinking of cycling from Durban to Cape Town on back-roads. I know there is the freedom trail route but I'm on a bit of a budget and that often goes through the middle of nowhere - I'll be carrying my own stuff so will need to pass shops every few days. Planning on camping most nights. If anyone lives anywhere between Durban and Cape Town and knows of back-roads or paths that I could possibly use (and that will take me near some civilisation where I can buy supplies every now and then), then please share the details with me. Thanks so much
  13. It's totally irrelevant if you would have done that, good for you. The OP did it his way and I'm glad he did. Cape Town Giants behaved how they did (more than one person to back it up) so that shouldn't be swept under the carpet. Best thing is they should appologise and take action to stop this sort of behaviour from happening in future
  14. The Hoerikwaggo actually goes over and along the mast tar road for a little while before dropping down into Hout Bay as far as I know

    W2W

There was a guy who rode freedom challenge (2400km offroad) a couple years ago on what was basically a makro special. Any bike can break, and you could probably get any bike to finish w2w (as long as you are fit yourself). Just (as with any bike), make sure you can fix it. (Think tubes, duct tape, cable ties) etc
  16. The Lesotho Sky kicked off with a 24km prologue in Maseru today Couple of photos on the link below https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.732580486757858&type=3&l=4af149de5f
  17. Your best bet is probably to buy a 2nd hand bike with disk brakes, because you'll need to buy new wheels (hubs at least) and the disk callipers and levers. Also, you mention you'd like a new fork ... that is all just going to cost tons rather look 2nd hand - you'll have to wait until your size comes around but there are some decent deals around ... eg R2500 https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/62764-26-schwinn-mesa-small/ R3500 https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/62744-schwinn-moab-26er-xt-lx-spec-awesome-spec/ R4000 https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/62748-gt-karakoram-ht-29er-for-sale-medium/
  18. May consider sponsoring some second-hand cleats...
  19. You are comparing two different frames. The scale is a hardtail, and the spark is a full suss, hence the difference in weights
  20. I have so much emotion now, without ever having met the guy. Pissed off, gutted, and feeling a bit hopeless. And no action from the government will ever come of this. they care f-all about us.
  21. ahhh, was going to get another access card next week - not too sure I will as all the good singletrack is disappearing.
  22. Hahahaha, let me guess you have a real chip on your shoulder. I have actually grown up in the new South Africa and have friends across the board, and you'll find me with my arms around my friends of all colours. what i do get pissed off with is people skirting around the race topic - just call the guy a racist or keep it to yourself.
  23. there is something on your keyboard labeled "backspace" - google what it does
  24. I really love reading comments like this - makes me realise i'm not such a tjop compared to others
