  1. Welcome Robinson, Hope you will enjoy your cycling be it road or MTB, If you do not ask where to buy a power balance band you should do OK here.

  3. As I am from Bloem it is nice to hear everybody enjoyed the race so much. I also had a good race and missed my target only with one minute. Also saw people throwing GU sachets, and guess what , they had I Pods with them. Luckily not involved in any crashes nor did I see any Will be doing my fourth next year and trying to cut another 5 minutes from my time.
  4. Hi, Your time on the bike looks impressive for somebody that just started. If you want to improve more I will say that you need to see if you can get two more rides during the week as your weekend rides would not get much longer unless you go semi-pro. Try to do 4 one Hour sessions in, on weekdays. Maryke programs is quite cheap around R300-00 and this will help you to push yourself. You would preferebly need Heart rate monitor , even just cheap one to see where you are at wehn training. Good Luck and welcome to Cycling.
  5. Just want to know if USN vitargo can be mixed and put in fridge the night before use or only to be mixed before the ride. I saw we have user by name USN so should get answer here.
  6. Was in HH in 2009 this year in H. However not knowing if I will make the trek to the north. Would like to improve my time from last year to get up maybe E for next year.

    32 vs 34

6% harder trap want dit is verskil in gear ratio.
  9. agreed . will be my last for a few years , we have other races like Knysna Oyster festival, Herald East London, couple in gauteng area that is big enough but not as hectic as Argus & 94.7
  10. 500-600 Calories per hour is a good guideline if you do not absulutely hammer it. I use arounr 600-700 on endurance rides and just a bit over 1000 Calories an hour while racing. Used 3200 Calories saturday morning .
  11. Just bought myself pair of rudy'd Rydon during lunch time , luckily I can see good enough without prescriptions. Got a really good deal.
  12. You can do that but you will then have to replace casette when replacing chain. Tour de France riders change after every stage.
  13. Ordered a helmet on the 3rd of September 09:00 , Got delivery today 13: September 13:00. Will not say that is within 3-5 days. What bothered me more is that the helmet is not in the original packaging. No extra padding that you normally receive with helmet, no manual etc. Just helmet in box the taped together.
  14. Saturday - 85 km Cycling, went to watch the Cheetahs beat the bulls, Sundays - 65 km cycling , Snoek on the braai, and afternoon with friebnds, Good weather, good not really ask for more.
  15. Raleighs do not need to be pimped, My RC8000C a dreambike.
  16. Have a look on FScycling.co.za for more info on the race for tommorow and groupride road sunday 11:00 at Northridge mall. Still R40.00 to enter race in Bloemfontein.
  17. Also could not cycle for two months due to work commitments, and then it was Le Tour which motivated me but I wanted to watch. But I have now entered 94,7 and race for victory will hopefully get me going.
  18. I guess you do not have a lot to loose , if you were really overweight you will loose quickly but those last few kg's need determination, decide if you want to loose it that badly.
  19. Hi, You are doing the right thing as there is not much of performance difference between the bikes although people will have there preferences, I have a 11 kg training Aluminuim bike and 7 kg bike and both feel heavy when going uphill although the lighter bike acclerate better the improvement is not that much . I woul;d suggest making sure you replace chain and cassette when you buy second hand bike though
  20. Want to improve time in 94.7 from 3:15 (Of course have improved training for this purpose as well so will improve still on same bike) Hopegully sub 3 Argus. Want to get as fir as possible with around 10 hours per week I am 37 and not too flexible, used too get lower backpain but with core training and setup has not really anymore but donot think I am very fexible I weigh 85kg and is 1.81. Current top tube55.5 cm. My problem is as stated by "The break" most people get dropped on the climbs. I am training but this still seem to happen to me as I can just not stay with group as well as when they accelerate very fast which means my race change to TT. Will stay just behind for 5k or so but can just not catch bunch again. Looking for real improvement not a band or magic trick.
  21. Hi , Thanks so far, Have a HR monitor and train according to program. Would like to get nice looking bike but is not only interested in this. My question is how do you know now if bike is stiff. Do you go according to LBS or what measurement is in place. Want to keep my bike as well as I wont really get much for it and can still use for training. If I buy second hand bike on Hub for around R10K will have money for set of wheels on Hub The_Break What is good racing wheels I currently have gators on and would really like that 2.5 minutes. My wheels inluding tyres and casette currently 3.6 kg
  22. Hi , I have a Aluminuim Road bike 10 years old with Campag mirage groupset from 10 years ago. My complete bike weighs 10.5 kg I have Alex AT450 rims with mirage hubs. I want to upgrade with around R15 000 and want to know what will give me best improvement on looks , ride and time . Time is most important if possible. Any advice from all the clever guys , and please dont tell me to buy a MTB.
  23. Yes, but I must admit That you could see the Reds were playing well last week already and with Genia and Cooper they are a dangerous team.
  24. Yes , as well as Superbru, did not go great in either one last week though.
  25. Sure , You will be able to get it on the Tour site closer to the race , should not make a difference to your training though.
