  1. Sorry to hear , will be doing my first DC this year and just managed to finally get accomodation. Looking forward to it. Unfortunately no space in our team what I am aware of.
  2. Do around 8-10 hours a week. That gets me a 38-42 km/h avg in most races and around 36km/h at the Argus
  3. Thanks man, Nice read.
  4. This game is very muuch like my cycling , you train(think you know riders) the enter, think you do OK but then you see the others ride off in the distance and you just can not keep up. But maybe, just maybe it will improve from Saturday.
  5. I think you are talking kiloJoules here not Calories. To burn 1800 Calories in 90 minutes almost impossible in the gym and you need to be very fit to actually achieve this.
  6. depends but normally your heart rate will not be as high in the gym on average. I normally burn around 1500 calories in 2 hour training ride so you would need more than this in the gym , I would say at least three hours. But all of this is erelative as we do not know your heart rate, weight etc to determine, Get a heart rate monitor with fairly accurate calorie function wear it and it will tell you.
  7. Hi Gerald, Thanks for all the effort so do not want to complain, just see the stage point allocation does not seem to be right , See sagan and Boasen Hagen both got 1 point on your sheet. Maybe I am reading it wrong?
  8. Team sent. Should be good for a win.
  9. I eat my bowl of Oats the morning and then have an Oats energy bar every hour for rides of 3 hours and more, I drink one bottle 750 ml of Cytomax. Works for me.
  10. Hi, HRM will help you to improve as you will be able to see where you are at. It will not help you if you are still doing the same spinning class though because you did not change the training. If you get a HRM get a training program that guide you at what Heart rate to ride on each day. Spinning classes is just sufferfests that is not designed to follow on each other and you will get much fitter following a proper program. A HRM will also assist you then to track your fitness and you can logg workouts on fittrack.co.za
  11. Wiggins will not win it as he will fall on the second mountain stage and then will not be able to recover, Gesink will bunnyhop over him and get second behind Evans
  12. Now that you know how to do it. Use Fittrack.co.za to keep track of your improvements . assist you with motivation and to see yourself improving. But you still need to do the hard work and do it the clever way.
  13. Do not know name but saw Nic White do a test with his cellphone in a sock and dipping the sock in a bucket of water for 10 or so seconds. Took it out and phone was dry, so maybe go to cyclelab and see if they have something else, do not know if it was same sealskinz
  14. Robert Gesink from rabobank not mentioned. Sure he will be close if not on the poduim.
  15. Marketing seem to be an issue as I only read about tour today and the format looks great but to late for me now, hopefully it happens again next year and I will be there. I just wonder if it should not have some qualifying criteria, can anybody enter, I am quite fit but you also do not want to be the only man riding that is not in the bunch.
  16. I have discovery and agree that it has some nice benefits only thing is that you are limited where to spend the discovery miles as you would know. That will influence my decision. Currently getting Cape union mart vouchers and buying from them to use the miles but off course there is the money back ewards as well.
  17. I also used to use headbands and bandana but they make me overheat. Got a new helmet while ago and theairflow is such that I do not need it anymore, altjhough I had a guy behind me complaining in one race that my sweat was getting into his eyes. Using Giro Helmet now. Coincidently went riding with old helmet yesterday and after an hour had sweat in my eyes so Helmet defineteley works for me.
  18. Hi Just in RJvR won the 7 day tour de Bretagne. Best a South African has done for a while , wonder how long he will still be with MTN? Well Done RJvR.
  19. We get socks at the OFM classic, very good quality you see the guys with them in races two to three years later. I like mine a lot altjhough it doesnot remind me about the race. Look at my times for that
  20. I am not but can also say That I save much more than that.My Family of three has gym fees of R140 a month , I received R8000-R9000 back on healthy food purchace from Pick& paye last year, do not count the money back at exclusive books, cape union mart @home Reggies Clicks etc. So if Momentum beats that they must be great.
  21. Cheapest& easiest is just to remove your bike rack plate from the holder and replace with your wifes number plate which is behind the bikes, this way you have correct plate on and do not have to make another plate.
  22. where do you follow , according to twitter RJvR won tour but do not see official site.
  23. Want to join but the application just keep loading on my phone. Any others with this issue. Apple Iphone
  24. Mine around the same in all categories but it does not tell you anything where you will place. As you train you will be able to put out more power at same heartrate and might actually be able to reach higher heartrate during races, I would however say use heartrate to train but when racing I do not have time to check heartrate , do that afterwards.
  25. Also saw him, he must have just missed the sub 3 as I saw im around 09:30 at finish and B started 6:30.
