  1. Looks like it will be waste of money, thought I might get some extra boost plus maybe they make another production slip like with Bjorn and Chillyboy and you get something very powerfull.
  2. Just want to know if anybody has experience with VO2 max. Thinking of starting to use it.
  3. Look under training & nutrition for training programs from Maryke(Maryks) You give her some info regarding your Max HR current exercice etc. She gave me a program of intervals and I can see the results. She asked R300-00 for six week program last year October. It really works.
  4. On 85.2kg this week. Going much better than anticipated , have lost each week so far. Maybe the 84kg mark for the Argus not to farfetched, looking quite easy at the moment. Not doing anything special. Riding around 10 hours a week but not too fussy about my eating habbits although I tried to cut out chocolates and Coke.
  5. Hey, i am doing the Grey discovery Race in Bloemfontein tommorow. R60-00 Entry fee, for the 100 km . Will collect goodie bag & number tonight. Will cycle to start tommorow to save money. I also have an issue with this when I go up to Gauteng for a race . normally stay in the Vaal triangle then I must do around 100km to venue and back to collect number and next day again to do the race.
  6. I am in K up from Q last year hope to stay with the leaders of this group to ensure a earlier start for next year and the 94,7
  7. I agree, Good to have these two shops in Bloem. Have done bussiness with both. Just hope they both survive as two shops have closed down while I have been in Bloem for 30 months. I guess their good service is why they are still open.
  8. I do spinning but not a class , do intervals which you can control much better than the road, would not do spinning class. They usually do not work to get you fitter but just want to make you suffer. If you do not really follow program I guess spinning class OK.
  9. I use it as motivator , to try and aim for improvement the whole time as if you miss two three days you see your score dips quite a lot. From what I have read it give you a score on average time spend over the last six weeks with a moving average, if you average around 10 hours with decent intensity as far as I know it will estimate that you should then make it in 03:30. However some people will ride a better time than others on the same training . So you should see this as your score to measure yourself and not to measure you against anybody else. I am aiming for a 03:15 min in the Argus and is currently at around 60 points. I want to take it up to just above 70 by the Argus.
  10. you can Join Free State cycling for R100-00 annual fee which include the R75 CSA fee. For those who really just want to ride without getting into clubs but also do not want temporary licence every time. Link http://www.fscycling.co.za/club_general/FSC/FSC.htm
  11. 86.3 kg for me a steady 100grams per day for three weeks now, hope it continues. If I can reach 84kg by Argus will be happy.
  12. Unfortunately this does not always happen. You must also think back if this is what you always do when you see somebody riding or walking on the side of the road. Cyclist must think and try to avoid dangerous roads, as indicated that this is a noarrow road. I have been in bunches where people skip red lights in training but it is not safe for the whole bunch to cross. This can easily cause some of the back of bunch to blindly follow bunch accross the red light into oncoming traffic.
  13. Hi, I am also using the fittrack site and must say it is a great motivator. Now throughout the season I set myself a score I need to attain which adds motivation especially when our racing calender for Free State is still not out, currently getting to a score of 60 and would like to be at 70 for Argus.
  14. I have a very sheap Sigma. for about 14 months. No problems and you can change the battrey yourself. Sigma is german as far as I have it so should not be an issue, just new on the market in SA, a bit more than a year.
  15. Down to 87 kg . Did 3800 Calories the weekend on the bike , closing in on 25 BMI.
  16. 87.9 kg . The 4100 Calories burned on the bike the weekend did assist.
  17. Hi, You can add me to : 1.81 m 88,5 kg currently Untill when is the challenge 3months, 6 months ?
  18. i was informed that you only need the full racing licence if you want to compete in SA Championchips and if you are part of Pro racing team. Otherwise you can do all races with the csa Membership only.
  19. Same for me and everybody is happy
  20. Carbon will be strong enough, remember Formula 1 racing cars are made from Carbon. it does have a bit less vibrations, but the fit is definetely more important than the weight. I have a carbon and a alu bike and although the carbon accelerate much faster due to lighter wheels I can not really tell you that my performance are largely different on the carbon bike. Rather do your homework and get the bike set-up correct. Frame size, saddle height , stem length, saddle fore/after position .
  21. While everybody is out looking. Maybe you see my wallet, was pickpocketed yesterday afternoon in Bloemfontein. with all the rain you do not know where it might end up. I see everybody is passing here on the way to Capetown so might as well ask you to look. Thanks, even smiling now and the wallet and contents was a bit more than R100. Will save me some time as well of queueing for licence and id.
  22. Improved OFM Classic time from last year by 14 mins. Started to seriously train again from August although I did not lose any kg's. Looking forward to 2011, Grey race, Emperors palace, Argus ...
  23. Was thinking of getting a team together om Bloemfontein for next year to do DC , but want to enjoy it wont race to win but will go for around six hours. just the scenery alone should make the people relax. We are not used to people swearing at each other in races here.
  24. Thanks for this info, I donate blood every two months, so if i stop this I should be able to stay with the bunch on the hills on race day the weekend after the donation. Looking forward to first race in january now as I am always racing/riding having donated lood in the last two months or less.
  25. I do interval training , this breaks it down into smnaller bits, it is easier to focus to get heart rate in correct zone on IDT. I also count pedalstrokes to ensure above 90 which also helpes, I do sessions of at least an hour although I need a bucket to catch the sweat dripping, but it really helps with fitness if you can keep it up. If you are going to watch movies etc, you will not be able to focus on the intervals keeping youre heart rate where it should be. Do long rides on weekends.
