  1. FB Marketplace - where stolen bikes find new owners
  2. Was the major service also done by the Cyclelab workshop? And how long ago was that? Surely this must have been picked up by them.
  3. It's not really the fact that the guys was in another African county that triggered my suspicions, it was the plentiful paying methods he had. After my 'cash or EFT only' response to him, he stopped responding - another sign that this was a chancer. It was a low value item, so he could've asked his 'friend' to hand me the money (which was another one of his ways of paying). Any case, the item was sold to a fellow-hubber who had no issues with paying via cash or EFT.
  4. Good old fashioned customer service. Treat every person walking through the door as potential returning customer. With so many bike shops out there offering the same products at more or less the same price, customer service is what will make you stand out.
  5. Definitely a downgrade and not worth it in my opinion. You can upgrade your current drivetrain to GX AXS for +/- 10k or if you are a Shimano fan you can upgrade to XT 12 spd and save some $$$
  6. Interesting, especially from a safety point of view.
  7. Not sure if anything is 100% waterproof but my Lezyne light has served me well over the years with no issues.
  8. Yeah, he seems to have done the same now. There were to many red flags on this deal, thank you Bike Hub community.
  9. Initial contact was via Whatsapp. I then got suspicious and asked for him to send me a message via the Hub to check his profile.
  10. Anybody familiar with a user called Wellings (apparently from Malawi)? He's trying to by a derailleur from me but there's a lot of back and forth from his side on trying to get his "handler/transporter" to collect the item from me and "ways" to make payment to me. Gave him the option of cash or eft after which he came back suggesting payment via Mukuru (?) Something doesn't feel right.
  11. And that fork looks like it will bent going up the driveway
  12. That's the next restoration project🤣
  13. Thank you @Cyclingzak will check out Kean bikes
  14. Anybody familiar with their products and quality? I'm looking at their carbon seat post https://www.trifoxsa.co.za/
  15. This oil rig scam is getting old, can't these guys think of something more original?
  16. From the TMTBC news letter received this morning: For 2022, exclusive to TMTBC Members, you can do a “top up” on your TMTBC membership, and take out a Winelands LOCAL membership, reduced by 50 %. This will give you full access to all the various trails and routes, included in their LOCAL Membership : - Paarl (Specialized Trail Zone, Rhebokskloof, Spice Route, Diamant Estate, Laborie, Paarl Reserve) - Banhoek (Plaisir De Merle, Old Bethlehem, Boschendal, Bartinney) - Wellington (Wild Boar Trails, Scouts) - note, these trails are excluded from the normal TMTBC membership from 2022. - Franschhoek Wine Valley Trails (Berg River Dam)
  17. Just sold an item on the Hub, how do I mark the ad as sold? It only gives me the option to put the item on hold. Haven't sold anything on the Hub for a while so might have missed some changes or it might just be user error.
  18. Good news indeed, a lot of work ahead for Patrick and the gnomes to get that trail up to TMBC standard again. But as we've seen in the past there's no challenge to big for this dedicated team of trail builders.
  19. To think this was once the venue for the prestigious Cape Epic
  20. Stopped riding at Meerendal more than a month ago because of the lack of trail maintenance and overgrown vegetation, it's just plain dangerous. With zero trail maintenance and rehab those trails won't last much longer. I only use Meerendal for parking now and advise people not go riding there.
