  1. This is probably the right place for it: A rider was hit by a driver this morning in Bakoven. I went with the rider to hospital and he is stable and will have to have the leg sorted. The driver just pulled in front of the two riders, grazed the first and hit the second. There is not a tube on the bike that is not cracked. Luckily we have a few guys that are handy with blood and bandages so managed to stabalize before ambulance could arrive. The driver stopped, like he had a choice with 40 cyclists around. He was chatty and wanted to say sorry etc, told him its probably NOT the best idea when the dude is in pain on the ground. Very kind neighbors brought out blankets and bandages and Bootlegger looked after our bikes while I went to the hospital. Be safe out there, dont trust drivers.
  2. Well, that intersection is a danger area for cyclists as motorists just dont look. I went with the rider to hospital and he is stable and will have to have the leg sorted. 3. I think it would have been nicer if they dropped the age limit a bit. Also, spread the event over 2 days, as the original cycle tour was to raise awareness for cycling, it has not really expanded since then. Should be a whole weekend or week event with different roads being closed throughout the week to think bike etc or test which roads would work for cycle lanes etc. Can easily close a cycle lane of space all the way to suikers and back with out too many drivers tears.
  4. Slow down - Why are we in this? Green lost time to the lines above it, we gained time after the first stop on everyone around us.
  5. My suggestion was on Saturday, during registration, closing Sea Point to Suikerbosie, single lane closed for bikes only. 30km R250 entry, go and enjoy. Maybe this is the first step....
  6. Nope, age limit is still 11 unfortunately. Sorta ruins the whole, go ride and enjoy closed roads with your family vibes.
  7. Uh oh, See john is off course and not realised yet!
  8. Dont need to DQ. If you get caught riding accross the full lane, you get not medals and no free beer at the end and you have to pay for your funny photo on the stage. You will see perfect single files lines all over the Overberg.
  9. The marshals that are around should be asking the social teams to not ride in groups of 5 wide, rather than tell the team trying to pass that there is no space.
  10. Apologies, I know some have asked for a proper Savage race report where we state we actually won the amateur's age group and were deep in the hurt locker and pain cave all day. If I find some time I will see if can make it happen.
  11. With all the hype and build up in Cape Town for the 2022 DC regardless of the result it was going to be memorable day! After having our plans for the day leaked to everyone, besides our support driver, the lads were ready for a big day out! To all the teams chatting to our support driver about the plans, her utter confusion was real. Surprisingly we managed to stick to the plan in the first sector instead of seeing the normal red mist. A little unlucky chain drop meant some additional chasing down Op Tradouw with a few KOM’s in the process. The second sector saw the infamous red team emptying tank into the headwind to the second stop! After a bike swop for Keegan onto a bike with charged Di2, the Savages were ready for the last push. David, our late call up from Jozi had to ride a bike with no gears, skipping chain and a flat front tire the last 30km home, welcome to the team legend! Was great riding against the rouleur tritans in the final 30km over the sisters as pushed on to the line! We were not attacking each other, just certain people climb at different speeds over those last sisters. A massive team effort got us to 6th on the day in a time of 5:01. So great racing with so many of the local teams and great camaraderie. The stand out performances of the day were @milky4130 and Keegan putting in mega efforts on the day!! All can be very proud with the efforts of the day!! Big ups to the Mother and LPC crews for fuelling the pre race banter and racing like legends! #oldmutualwealthdc #PureSavage
  12. Red team emptied the tank and we came in 6th on the day behind RDX and Rouleurs. Very strong riding out there yesterday by all the teams!
  13. Just watch it on Tiz cycling, fast, easy and decent quality. Its also pretty cheap.
  14. More likely will attack with 800m to go.
  15. Someone tried to run us over at a red light in his defender and we asked where he wanted to go, then got a whole bunch of fingers and frothing. 2 hours later he was fighting for his life in hospital after wrecking his car. Not sure if its a good outcome, but one less loony trying to run people over out of hate.
  16. Many cities are already banning them, its going to take time but people are getting tired of hearing about people being killed by vehicles that should never be in city centres.
