  1. Yeah, today is an at home day so I can keep an eye. Those blocks are bolted with 8mm stainless bolts, I will make sure they either use either T nuts or bolts for inverter etc onto the ply then use some BFO screws from ply to blocks.
  2. D Day has arrived, I did a little prep for the install. I ran 2x25mm conduits from the house to the garage so that I could route it how I liked them. As the inverter is going on a vibracrete wall that gets some afternoon sun we are spacing it off the wall with the wooden blocks and using a solid piece of ply to mount all the breakers, inverters etc. Used some vapour barrier with a heat shield on it on the wall just to provide a little more insulation from radiant heat.
  3. Interesting, so once your batteries are full, you can use in my case the 3kwh of solar on base load plus whatever else you use, then another 2kw will pull from battery, then anything above that it can switch over to eskom if Eskom is there? Have found with this process the devil is in the detail - like the pump for the solar geyser is 12v with its only little panel - cute. But the geyser wise is on the geyser breaker, so when load shedding the pump stops and does not circulate and is not as efficient. Thinking of running a separate cable from a plug circuit to power the geyser wise, so the 12v pump can work during load shedding.
  4. Last day of the shedding! Installer came yesterday to check out the install site. I need to install a batton for him and some thermal insulation on the vibracrete and we ready to rock and roll.
  5. In the B batch, see you okes there Well, you wont see me till over Bothmans hoepfully..
  6. Is there a petition to sign?
  7. Used it for our solar set up, was just thinking of getting one without the solar panel for the small flatlet on the property as that geyser just sits on the whole day.
  8. Can one install a geyserwise timer without the pannels etc, Would like to set specific timers etc for the tenant HWC. So that she can turn it on and off and see what temp the water in the geyser is etc.
  9. Its not fair when they weigh 28kg and mine is a closely guarded secret. I am going to get dropped on the hills soon!
  10. Yeah I missed out by 3300, my wife only got active after June. To be fair to vitality et al, getting fit and healthier does make a big difference, just wish it was easier to track.
  11. I must ask though @Frosty the Mrs wants to join the gym again, is there any way to avoid joining fee or just go with the Virgin Active current specials?
  12. I must say, did not know about Miles D-day. I was wasting my miles on nonsense. Also bought all kids Xmas presents for savings of R2450 and no cash out lay.
  13. He is not a peasant - those bad boys are Speedplay
  14. Made the first step at the end of December, installed a 150L panel for the geyser and a geyserwise. Since then we have not used any electricity for the geyser. Rather impressed with it, as there must be a fair amount in the panel. When sun is down and geyser is at 60 degrees and panel at 55 - pump is off and not circulating, when wife and kids bath, geyser drops to 48 - but then pump kicks on and then water back up to around 51. So 150L geyser is around 200L I would guess in terms of once off capacity. 27 Jan our 8 panels , 5kw inverter and 10Kwh of batteries go in as well. So sick of this load shedding when trying to cook or work in the evenings. As mentioned above a fair amount and did help, have to think what zones will be linked and what is on them. Like my shed and flat are on one board - but going to move the flat geyser to house DB so is not on the solar but flat is. Stuff like that which would annoy you if did not do it before.
  15. The last 3 days of Holiday Kittel decided that he wanted to come ride at 5:30am and not with the kids later. So we got to ride from Wilderness up to Map of Africa. Amazing coffee shop called Hallo Coffee. Managed the 30km loop not too badly. Help needed - Need some 26" tubeless gravel tyres or just 26" gravel tyres and some deep section presta tubes. Also he needs a new helmet - ideas? Titan racing looks decent. Really, really enjoyed the rides. Just 2 local douchebag drivers on the road in Wilderness.
  16. With silly season here still, its nice to have some cover from cars from Sea Point to Bakoven before the yellow lane starts.
  17. On the climbs the average is 24/25km/h. But the group is large, especially this time of year. Some people doing their weekly torque interval like every other Cape Townian, some tapering for an ironman, some hungover from the night before it seems.
  18. There are some rides to chappies on Tuesday and thursday at aroudn 5:50 ish in Camps Bay.
  19. See @Frosty beat me to it! Feel the whatsapp groups are probably replacing the cycling related chat and banter that used to take place on the hub, especially around the classics, TDF, Giro, Vuelta etc.
  20. Would be interesting to compare years. Went back and looked at 2017 - This yea the top poster would not even have been a MTB podium... Looking at the activity overall - Its 25% of what thehub used to be.
  21. Have our solar geyser coming Monday and then full 8 pannel, 5Kvh inverter and 10Kwh battery in Jan
  22. On our 300km tour de Bootlegger, there are certain areas that have the worst drivers and I would say they align to the above...
  23. The driver pulled straight into the path of the 2 cyclists. There was another car stopped and waiting at the stop street and could not believe what he saw.
  24. Can I just mention the Knob driver in a Hilux that shouted at us while we were bandaging up a broken leg and applying a tourniquet to our friend " Can you cyclists get out the F'ing road" This was because chub chub had to wait 4 seconds before turning up Houghton drive.
