  1. The trek is a the smallest Large in that group. That’s mostly due to its age than anything else. I don’t think it will be too small for you at all but it will require a 70-80mm stem to fit you which won’t go down well with the fashion police
  2. It’s postponed to the 21st now. Online entries will reopen this week. Just check the site regularly. The okes will only start damage assessment tomorrow when the weather lifts
  3. The Trek is the most versatile bike in the posted selection. The Pyga is nice but heavy and heavier than the Trek (which is also alloy I assume) Something to watch out for with the Pyga 110 29 alloy frames is that they crack on the seat tube below the top rocker link cradle. Make sure you insure the bike if you opt for it.
  4. 138seconds lead with 23.8km to go. They need to up their pace relative to MVDP by 6.8 sec per km to overhaul him
  5. Pedersen punctured?
  6. Froome who? last year Poggie broke his wrist(?) or was it forearm? Can’t remember but either way it took the edge off his Tour de France and Vingegaard walked it easily. If Poggie stays injury free will we see a 2020 rematch with Roglic or will another contender emerge?
  7. I’d like to think the designer had that sort of impact event in mind when they designed the helmet but… I’m glad it worked out well for you. I’ve seen some case where the visor breaks off and cuts the face or scalp. Those visors should be really soft plastic or rubber
  8. Yeah I mentioned that in my post. I was expecting the commissaires to issue a warning or neutralise that section of road but it doesn’t appear they did anything proactive about it. Was a road condition warning issued over race radio?
  9. 😂 no of course not, pips aren’t shaped that way so the inside is noggin shaped while the interface is closer to spherical.
  10. Spherical is a Bell/Giro patent. One shell floating over the other
  11. At this rate the UCI will mandate Leathers , Leatt neck braces and full face helmets for road racing
  12. By model I mean are they registered as retailer or manufacturer. Chain reaction used to be registered as a bike Manufacturer and therefore bought their parts kits as OEM. This is priced differently and often sold with minimal packaging
  13. I’d lie to understand their model more. I always set their adverts but was sceptical due to the “if it seems to good to be true…”
  14. Serial numbers are allocated to a region. So when the joint registers on the manufacturer platform they can pick up where it should have been sold. I bought an edge 1000 in the UK. It had a forward glitch so it went to Garmin and they could immediately tell me it was a UK unit just from its serial number. They could not reload the software due to this so offered my a warranty upgrade instead. It was just a month out of warranty but I had to fork over R2100 for the replacement unit
  15. Roglic also abandon but walked away with just light cuts and abrasions. He’s got to be cursing his luck. He’s starting to worry me in that like Chris Froome, everytime I see him race I have this will he won’t he crash anxiety. that said, road racing is getting faster at the sharp end and the road they were riding on is in bad shape with broken tarmac due to roots pushing through. The UCI is not looking terribly good this year with poor decision making from ‘22 and ‘23 leading to more crashes and more injured riders. Instead of focusing their energy on real safety it’s directed and brake hoods, socks, pointyness of helmets and other trivial crap.
  16. Oh boy that’s turned the tdf fantasy league on its head. Roglic escaped with minor injuries, basically cuts and bruises. Hopefully they all recover well and can resume their programs asap
  17. Same here. Individually we can make it work. Managing large inventory is a different matter. Hundreds of stock keeping units in one massive warehouse was and still is a difficult undertaking. So setting up distribution so that appropriate SKUs go to the right DC is far easier. Its supply chain 101. Small markets end up with the scraps. On the high end side though SA is one of the biggest markets funnily! Europeans are not as obsessed with having top end kit as us SAFFAs are. ooops whole other debate …… probably one for Friday
  18. Yip and that’s driven by stock management at different distribution centres that service the regions they are allocated. Remember things like a US charger is 110v dc while the Europeans have a different plug to Oceania. Different regions have different radio frequency control acts regulations and laws to kit has to be packaged and managed accordingly. Having a retailer in Oceania selling kit into Africa introduces a whole bunch of issues with AXS kit for example. for mechanical kit it’s more about stock allocation and managing inventory and warranty. The parent company also has to honour the contracts with its distributors on terms of pricing, inventory holding. It’s not a one size fits all agreement but rather a separate agreement tailored to the market they’re operating in. South Africa will never sell the kind of volume Europe la distributors can so CCS can never attract the same bulk discount at wholesale . on the warranty side a Hubble may be keen to send a part back to Halfords for warranty but hubbers are 1% of the buying public. The rest want a local distributor to sort out any issues and they want it sorted yesterday. sorry to say it but Hublands needs are relatively insignificant compared to the overall SA market
  19. Peaks are sun visors but most people ride with sunglasses so the peak is just extra bits of plastic to break off in a crash and likely hurt you
  20. The main difference is the thicker plastic shell. The EPS density is much the same. The crumple zone is the deforming shell that doesn’t recover it shape whereas the other helmets have shells that can absorb more but break when its design limit is breached
  21. This has been the case for a number of years. Search on this forum for SRAM geo blocking. jt relates to Shimano and other component distributors as well
  22. Their support is actually that pathetic
  23. Skater , bmxers , kayakers all seem to use helmets without MIPS and they’re multiple impact, yet our bike helmets are single impact . sounds like someone is being taken for a muppet
