  1. Hopefully Wayde van Niekerk doesn't read this post....
  2. Spring always feels like it's round the corner when CTCT entries open!
  3. The world is such a small place! Gary is my wrench too! Such a stand up dude!
  4. More important than using lights and being visible is doing the most uncool of all things... Yep, go ahead and try think what that could be!? I personally have been using one for about 3 years now and you wont catch me on the road without one! It's even attached on my sub 7kg rig. I've gotten so used to it that I don't even bother taking it off for races anymore! If you're still thinking, it's a rear view mirror. Once you have ridden with one just long enough to use it properly you will never be able to cycle down the road blindly trusting that traffic approaching from behind will come past you safely again. It empowers you to act before a vehicle gets to you. We all know that somewhat sixth sense you get when you can just hear the approaching vehicle is going to be that guy\girl who buzzes you! If you see them in the mirror curb hugging from 100m back you can wave them over and SHOW them to move away from the road edge. It's amazing what results you get from just this action with those drivers. Yes, you'll turn your head less. Yes, you'll need to signal your turns better as drivers wont anticipate you turning if you're not looking back as much. Yes, you'll have to get used to working out what a safe passing distance looks like and not feel unnerved when you first start using it, seeing what you simply are trusting riding without it. Get one, get over the initial overload and then you'll wonder why you never fitted it years before!
  5. Not a fan of these shows but found one of my daughters listening to this and had to go back and listen to it properly! Really enjoyed the original, yet the quality of this chaps voice is ridiculous for this song! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICdPS3aXlwQ
  6. Get the other 3 people to do all their tests too and voila, you're on gold. (2 of the 3 will be kids or your gold requirement would be higher!) You can't make up points for the 1 other adult member on your own. They need to do the same tests you're doing. Book them to do the tests and send them on their way! (I used to have this same problem when my ex wife was still on my scheme! Booted her off about 6 years ago as she kept missing the appointments after a couple of efforts!)
  7. Anyone do Parkrun this past weekend that still has not had the points for that come through? Usually this has come through on the day shortly after getting the results.... EDIT: Just so that the full scope of the sync issues is understood to be more than just Garmin\Polar etc
  8. Gonna be such a tough event! Wonder how much advantage there will be to going off earlier before the course gets completely blown out?

For me the compelling piece of video is if you watch AI as he comes to the end of his slide and looks over towards JL, whilst still sitting on the deck, then looks back, shakes his head and THEN hits his own head, which is the universal sign of "Dumb@ss, look what you did?" when you give yourself a rev! Even he knows he made the mistake! Heck, the commentators even say he is running in hot! It's fairly obvious who is in the wrong! No telemetry required!

I'm not a JL fan of any kind, but AI was fully in the wrong. JL was aiming for hitting the apex of the bend and AI is nowhere near at a speed to consider tipping into the turn when he shunted JL off the bike. Even when it's close and every racer is fighting for an inch, you're gonna get some errors which typically result in some 'rubbing', which is just part of racing. This was not a rub though and seeing as it's not the first time AI has done this, I can understand some extra chirp being sent his way! More so when he can't even do the right thing and tell the 'wet blanket' Championship LEADER he's sorry for getting into the accident with him, however you want to apportion the blame!

JL is racing and can choose whatever line and speed he likes. AI following him, needs to make a clear pass or set him up at his next opportunity. You can't spear into the guy and say, "hey, I did not expect you to be going slower then!" The only thing JL can't do is take AI's line in both left and right directions in the run up towards the corner.

Repeat offender... Not the same thing! If Pedrosa had tagged JL this weekend everyone would be saying the same thing about him, as now it would be his second incident of the year too! When AI tagged Dovi at the opener did he get this much flak? Nope, everyone saw it for what it was, an error in judgement. If you run into the back of someone you are at fault. It's the onus of the chap overtaking to make it safe in every sport the world over. AI clearly has not learned much from the experience and if he's intent on running laps hitting his braking marks in some sort of time trial than he should not be racing, as racing demands a different approach where you factor in the variables of changing up your lines and adjusting your speed through the same sections in order to set up a competing racer for the overtake.

Ah come on Duane, JL is the cover boy for wet blankets! The first opportunity he gets to cry foul and use the media to ask for greater sanction, he takes it. When do you ever see or hear of him out engaging with the people who follow the sport? Granted, his style of riding typically allows him to pole and only have to actually battle with the odd contender coming from behind as he tries to blitz the start and make up a buffer zone to where the racing is going on! He certainly does not seem to handle situations that require him to actually attempt to make a result out of a situation where the bike is not performing as it should! Kudos to him for having the skills to ride both a hot quali lap and do many repetitive ones in the actual race which is his typical MO. It has made him a successful rider. And no one is going to disagree on the emotional situation of everyone competing at the weekend's GP with LS39 paying the ultimate price. This can be dealt with as an on-track racing incident though!

Whilst I generally think Whore-gey is such a loss for the sport, to have that much ability and that little personality and I'm typically more than eager enough to see him lose out on the marginal circumstances, you gotta give the chap who runs into you from behind the majority of the blame, irrespective of what pace you were running at the time. It's not like you're invisible or (even more video game like) a ghost bike running laps transposed. You're right there in front of the 'maniac'! AI needs to engage his thoughts better and faster, so that he does not make these obviously uncalculated errors in judgement! JL should either be a rider or an official. His PR team REALLY need to spend some time with the dude and reinvent his image!!!!

Am I allowed to say that I am seriously hoping that Binder continues to impress the way he currently is! Plus the KTM program is certainly gathering momentum in racing spheres! You only need to look back through the past 6 years of the AMA motocross setup to see how specific and custom their focus on their racing program has been to ensure they take on the bigger brands at the pinnacle of the sport! Keen to see how this translates into their road teams too.
  17. Pick something about 3 - 4 months away that's a half and enter. Unless you know you have that coming towards you, you will keep putting off the training when the legs get sore and you pick up niggles.
  18. I've had a knee issue most of my adult life. It's literally taken me about 2 years to go from not running unless I have to, to doing up to 10kays semi decent. I've had to adjust the mechanics of my running to have as little impact as possible on my knee, which took quite a while until it felt natural. (Smaller strides, higher cadence, no bouncing, correct alignment and doing the necessary drills to get these right took a while for it to become ingrained) Can happily run on back to back days now, so I'm running at least 4 times a week now (and cycling a little less at the moment) but building up to running my first marathon in September! If that goes well, Ultra at OMTOM next year and then assess if Comrades is an option.... Will prefer doing the up run with the knee though! This is on my FIL though
  19. Huh??? What is going on here now? #whatwouldJOHNSONdo? is not quite the same thing....
  20. Sometimes the line between cool and tool is just too tight for some people!
  21. It may only be two events if one of them is a gym swipe. If you upload any HR data on the same day as a gym swipe you get those points too. Had that a few times now.
  22. This is really interesting!!! Gonna listen to this again properly and not skip through the tracks trying to get a feel for their sound!
  23. My fave SP tune ... So many parties to this track! (Also my second favourite band to attempt to directly translate their band name to Afrikaans.. "Die plat gemoerde pampoene!")
