  1. let the fun begin , i started a thread like this not to long ago lol. well you might be lucky and get it back. but dont get your hopes up. rather use it as a opportunity to get a new better pump well at least thats the way i looked at it
  2. come on guys lets not be so harsh take the south african way of looking at it, more people win then lose, 1. the guy gets a bike for free and makes some money selling it, 2. the guy who buys it now scores one hell of a bargin, 3. the guy at the factory still has a job because he has to make the replacement bicycle. 4. the bike shop makes their share on the sale of the new bike as well as the old one, if purchased from a place like neils wheels thus jobs are created the only person who gets screwed, which is the norm in this country is the good guy a important note about this photos is that it does not adhere to BEE standards, and i'm sure julius aka jubjub would agree that the photographer has not adhered to the BEE standards
  3. lol if that was me (not a roadie so dont really know how things work), i would have told the guy to bugger off and ride on someone else's slip instead of freeloading in mine if he had a problem
  4. I managed to get his number thank you, havent tried calling yet, but seeing that he is away, will give him a shout a little later then, its nothing major or urgent
  5. thanks will do that doing a member search i only see a Meentb? is that who your talking about?
  6. Does anyone know who the magura distributor is here in SA. been looking for the last 30 min with no joy. Cycles africa is no longer the distributor, anyone know who the new distributor is?
  7.
  8. dont worry that was one of the first things i asked before signing, it is covered as long as the rack is SABS approved and the bikes are locked to the carrier. edit: basically they wont cover you if the only thing stopping a thief stealing your bike is the rubber fastening strap, if its locked to the carrier, by chain cable or what ever and they have to cut that or remove the whole carrier from your car then then you should be covered. as far as i understand
  9. well thats why its always a good idea to insure your bikes, i dont have to worry now that i've got a little corsa bakkie, always used to stress about getting rear ended with the bikes on the back or them walking but with insurance it is allot more mind calming

  11. flip that not cool to hear, glad you and your friend are okay.
  12. and this is the exact reason that places like CRC and CWC are doing so well, because i couldnt be bothered with the bike shops up here in PTA, have had good service on the odd occasion but have never had a phone call back to tell me that they are ordering or managed to source what i want etc. only place that has phoned me back is solomons and that is when i have had items replaced because they have broken and had come back through the admin people and they phone me back
  13. bud this has been posted before, someone has already beaten you to it https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/107090-2012-merida/
  14. well i'm studying veterinary. i decided to do something a little more challenging where my patients wont tell me whats wrong with them, and also so i can be asked for the rest of my life why i didnt become a real doctor
  15.
  16. no dont get you nickers in a knot lol, snakes arent really something you have to worry about, they dont really like busy area's like MTB trails that are regularly used, plus the chance of getting bitten is probably allot less then getting taken out by a taxi on your road bike yip dont worry me too
  17. i've actually seen the snake pits they have there at 121, i mean some of those pits have like 10 plus snakes in, and if you didn't know you wouldnt see them at all
  18. yip by the time one gets to hospital they'd probably announce you D.O.A (dead on arrival) although the anti-venom is very quick acting, if the doctor knows what he is doing and gives it to you as soon as you com in. one must also remember that 50% of venomous snake bites are dry bites, where no venom is injected
  19. yip and thats what partly makes them so dangerous, you dont know its there till you've stood on it. from what i understand its a opportunistic predator, so basically lies in wait till something comes passed it can eat and then strikes, so noises dont really chase them off, and they dont move when they see you coming. we had a lecture on snake bites today in toxicology, i'm trying to remember the facts off the top of my head here, but there are like 120 odd different species of snake here in SA of which only 14 are poisonous, but these include snakes that only have enough venom to kill small animals like gecko's and insects. but still am personally not a fan of snakes
  20. come on guys the pythons arent snakes to worry about, its the cobra's and puff adders you have to worry about, especially puffies because they dont move off when they hear you coming the just lie there till the last minute. by us (mtubatuba/st lucia) we get a extra nice snake called a gaboon viper, one of the worst snakes to bite a person, has all three types of venom, cytotoxic, haemotoxic and neurotoxic one bite requires 20 x 10ml vials of anti-venom and at around R1000 a pop just for the anti-venom is not cool. cobra's have a tabled value of 6-8 vials. but most hospitals should carry stock of anti-venom

    2012 Merida

to be quite honest i much preferred the look of the 96, but merida must have reasons for changing. it the 99 replacing the 96 ? or are they just adding to their range?
  22. makes me think of that saying. "look mom no hands, look mom no teeth" lol
