  1. The wind must be pumping as we can feel it all the way up here in GP.
  2. I changed to align with my social media usernames/handles, then changed back; some Hubbers were used to this alias.
  3. For me, the highlight would be the annual Fantasy TdF competition. I took it over from Hannes (and a mate of his), in 2009 or 2010. Like bikehub, it grew better each year until it reaches a peak in 2019. What was initially just a fun way to enjoy the Tour, turned into a serious competition with prizes up to R70k. @ScottCM was the winner of the Cannondale in one year, which I think was the biggest prize in the competition's history. It was either 2015 or 2016 where I asked Matt and Nick to assist with the capturing of the names and team lists, as it became an admin nightmare to capture 100 entries, let alone the 658 in 2016. From there, the scoring was handed over to Nick to control/update and eventually I was a participant and no longer an organiser. My GoogleDrive still has most of the data, but not all. I remember deleting everything from my NAS drive, to free up space for other relevant information from 2024. 2019 was a good year for me, when I finished 2nd, and won a Lazer helmet for my efforts (often spelt helmut in many threads). What I could find:
  4. Thanks Nick; still a lot of accounts before me 😁
  5. profile/4915-frosty Were spam-bots around in the mid-2000s? 🫣
  6. South or SW? 😊😂 I could learn to like this view on weekly rides:
  7. Posted this in the movie thread:
  8. I used the virtual gearing once to see what it involved; never again. if you have a keyboard linked to the device (laptop, not phone) the shortcut to change between modes is “E”, for erg.
  9. Sunday ride ending at sunset (almost).
  10. Some country roads SE of Jozi.
  11. We are most likely riding there, doing the 50km, and riding back.
  12. We cycled to/from SBR on Saturday; lekker time of the year (not too hot, not too cold). It was windy, but not as windy as last year, and certainly not like the winds of this week.
  13. Website shows the 100Km goes through the reserve, so should be the same as 2023. An enjoyable, but not-that-easy, event. Hope to enter again, but to ride, not race.
  14. To Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve and back, with some added wind resistance training. #monthlyimperialcentury
  15. Hope the cyclist is okay. The marks on the bonnet and smashed glass could indicate the cyclist was travelling in the same line of travel as the car. It's on the left side of the car, with no damage to the bumper/lights. Most likely a hit from behind based on a visible evidence in the photo.
  16. I will enter around the closing date for online entries. I will most likely ride with the same friends I ride with on weekends; maybe be their domestique. I definitely won't be racing, but we all know what happens when a race number is pinned on. I'm training as if I will be racing in the semi-serious bunches even though it's the "non-serious" year in the 4-year cycle. I will most likely change my mind within the next 10-weeks, as there is no firm goal other than to take part, finish upright and have fun. If the weather is wet = 29x2.3 tyres > 25mm, and if it's dry, the trusty steel steed, (with 700C-25 tyres) will be used again, like I have done every year since 2016.
  17. 1. I need to find a webpage with the results in a table. 2. What I have found stops at 2010, and includes a number of names on the Elite list. 3. I knew Burry won the U23, but I didn't know he was 2nd the year before (or I forgot).
  18. Women's results from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UCI_Mountain_Bike_%26_Trials_World_Championships_–_Women's_cross-country
  19. But for a crash near the end, RSA could've been on both lists. Pity for Candice, being so close.
