I think one can never go up bain's too many times, I would've just prefered it from the other side

I was given vittoria inserts at a gravel race, never really considered using them, I always ran hard-ish pressures on the MTB and Gravel and never had issues. I'm keeping them in case I enter a very rocky race one year and I might regret not having them, but so far so good, and on the gravel bike I use very racey schwalbe tyres, not EXO Maxxis tyres.

what tyres are you running ? I had my first one recently after 3/4 years puncture free on the MTB. Was my 1st ride on the trails with Schwalbe tyres. Going straight back to Maxxis

haha yeah but sometimes you take KOMs in front of strong guys that weren't even trying 😅 Check this one from Nova Eroica last year : I was all in but matt was probably doing metabolic or maybe not even 🤣 I've got 3 pages of KOMs and 10 pages of top10s, maybe I should try harder to move some from the one list to the other 😅

So it was you that inundated them ! for anyone into gravel but not so much into long distance stuff, out of the two I would definitely recommend Old Hermon over Gravel monster, the vibe pre and post race was great at old hermon despite the conditions, I did not feel like the race was too short at the end (but long distance isn't really my thing) and I absolutely loved doing bain's more at the begining

R1150 and to be honest I don’t really understand why, there wasn’t much going on. Yes the route was well marked, there were a few motorbikes. But the start finish was very quiet, not that I really care about that. But when they say they were inundated well it didn’t show on the day, the numbers were pretty ridiculous I believe, Old hermon the parking was full and people parked on the road quite far, here it wasn’t even half full. Not sure if the poor attendance is due to the entry cost or the weather (probably a bit of both). But I would imagine a R450 entry for old hermon with a 1000 participants is better than a R1000 entry with 140 participants… was a nice even regardless will most likely still come next year.

@JohanDiv seemed a lot more optimistic than that yesterday ? i’m now considering the hydration pack for liquid carbs and water in the bottles to try and keep the bike clean and going smoothly
