  1. Okay its not that bad but reminds us how things have changed...
  2. Should the title not be changed to" Who in their right mind rides anything less than a full power EBike on the mountain"?
  3. Sounds like you Gravelers need MTB's with all that moaning about "corrugations". HTFU man. I think the organizers should ban flat bars and any form of suspension. Gravel purity FTW.
  4. Plus the US gravel scene will find it and come in droves. It will be like the Epic only 'Merican.
  5. That track did in quite a few tyres. Seems they were running rather low pressures and burping them off in the bike park section berms. There was a slow mo shot of Allan's rear tyre looking very squirmy. The U23 races were a poor showcase for the sport and track. Real low budget coverage that hardly showed any angles and made do with the bare minimum of cameras. Should they even bother if that's all they are prepared to do?
  6. I quite enjoyed the broadcasts without commentary but it was nice to have it back for the men's race. Staylive is fairly shite though. Casting to my android box didn't work properly perhaps because of bad internet but even on a good day I get buffering and audio and video sync issues.
  7. Six pack of frosties would be more appropriate...
  8. I think I'd be rather disappointed if I had booked from afar based on my buddies accounts of previous Epic routes around the WC.
  9. What's up with the "urban edition" stuff. Are they trying to cut costs on logistics and trail building? Looks tough enough for sure, but this route is even further from the original CE point to point event.
  10. I've always found that a decent amount of road training makes my MTB rides that much better. For instance, after the CTCT training and race my times on pedally descents are better and I feel fitter and faster everywhere. This could just be because my fitness has been improved a lot over the norm by teh road riding. That said I think what you're experiencing is more likely just that extra drag and slower speeds on the MTB which is a sharp contrast with the easy cruising on the road bike.
  11. Its actually been really good but i'm wondering whether I'll just catch the reasonably good highlights and youtuber videos instead of streaming it next year.
  12. That was probably the most in control flowy run I can remember. He just seemed to be perfectly balanced and in control at all times. The season is almost over, with just one more race coming up in Canada next month. There is talk of up to 15 races next year which I think will be a good thing. This years season with a big break for Olympics and the worlds feels disappointingly short to me. I paid for the Staylive stream which has been underwhelming. Even the replays buffer at times and you end up with voice/video sync issues in the interviews. Junior racing on YouTube has no such issues. Its also not available as an app so you cant sintal it on a TV or media box, you have to cast it from your phone or computer. Better than noting but not quite RedBull TV... I think they have improved the course coverage but there are still issues with poor decision making and poor coverage of some runs while others are shown in full.
  13. That's a very illuminating video. Basically all sport is dirty, but which one is the dirtiest?
  14. You're a Mamil - own it
  15. Bet most of you are MAMIls dying to wear them stripes.
  16. I've never actually seen this, but it sounds the same as wearing an SA colours jersey or a Man U shirt. Nobody in their right mind believes the wearer is world champ. Maybe he or she is just being patriotic because AH just won the world's? I think the tone of your answer is the issue, not so much the value you're upholding. Again no body thinks the "overfueld MAMIL" (does that mean fat?) you describe actually has won the Worlds. Your reaction is over the top.
  17. CSA are their own worst enemy and make sure the thankless task is even worse for them and the world's even worse for us. You such an establishment oke. 😀
  18. Wow, such a good showing from our team at the XCO. Yet to watch the races. Tiz only seems to have the men's available so far. DH was also a good race, with way tool few saffers in it, sadly. Thanks CSA. In the end Greg was only 20th or so but the vibe was amazing and Bruni's crash added a bit of drama right at the end.
  19. The Juniors have just done with qualifying in Andorra and Etan Hunter our sole SA junior came 48th. I think only the top 30 go through to the final. Worlds coverage is typically not available in SA and many other places unless you have a WBD or Supersport subscription in SA which is very irritating considering we've had to buy a monthly subscription to see all the WC races thus far (with a two month gap since Les Get) At least back in the RB day, you could use a VPN to watch the race. Some good analysis and after the fact coverage on PB and various YT accounts. The WBD have done nothing on YT so far however. Will Greg bag another? Is this his last ever as the UCI insta was saying a few days ago?
  20. World Champs as opposed to Cup. It probably is on DSTV and isnt on the paid for UCI streaming service I have 😞
  21. https://www.pinkbike.com/news/pinkbike-primer-everything-you-need-to-know-ahead-of-the-andorra-xc-world-championships-2024.html Who would bet against PFP and Tiny Tim Pidcock what with their teams altitude training expertise and breathing all that carbon monoxide stuff. Catch it on Tiz
  22. ...are too wet to ride.
