  1. Looks like Nino's winning Scott.
  2. Looks like the gravel movement is trying to invent a .... mountain bike. Sorry boys, its already been done.
  3. I forked out for an Assegai for the front wheel of my Enduro. about a month back. Its an exo plus 2.6 and so far its been great. The difference in grip between it and the Aggressor is noticeable, but not in a smack you in the face kind of way, compared to say when I went from a worn out DHR 2 to a Magic Mary a few years back. Its as if you don't notice the tyre because it just does its thing. The most striking thing has actually been how fast it rolls. I was expecting a noticeable increase in resistance but so far its been the opposite. I even got a pb up the long jeep track at Tokai. Weird. I'm still getting used to the increased grip and slowly increasing my cornering speed on the downs.
  4. No d**k pics on this forum plz...
  5. Ya, I've only ridden one once, the old Evo, that has a brain and it felt like something was loose.
  6. Oh no, not the dentists bike... its the asset managers and tenderpreneurs who can afford those things, not dentists. BTW I think Spaz does well because of their dealer network and warranty response. They probably beat any other brand on service hands down, especially in SA. They also generally make pretty good bikes. Their latest stuff from the Epic on up (in travel) is superb.
  7. I went for consistency in choosing Nino, but the young guns are showing the old guard up in both the men's and women's events. Koretzky was also a disappointment...
  8. For some very strange reason I failed to put Tommy P in my PB league team and backed that has-been Nino. You're out for Leogang buddy. Time for that Zimmer frame ????
  9. Maybe but then you still have *** power and the need for a horrid brake fluid bleed again soon. I haven't even got my 785 XTs running perfectly yet but they are in another league to my *** Guides.
  10. A friend of mine was scammed like this in Cape Town. The guy who collected and the scammer were one and the same. I did a trace for him based on the scammers cell number and we managed to get an ID a picture and address. He confirmed the person who collected the bike was the guy in the ID pic. Passed on to SAPS but ya, it's been a year and a half and ....
  11. I agree with this. I run 203/180 on my steel HT and 203/200 on my enduro bike. Bigger rotors may not turn your Tekros into Saints but they do make a significant difference to any brake system. That and proper bleeding and not running SRAM brakes ????
  12. You probably won't win an event on an expired gel.
  13. Throwing a zap at his fellow NZ rider I think.
  14. Yep, the descents are super steep, they were going seriously quickly there. I'm not a fan of the wood work though. I like Nino's gap on the last descent drop off. A few years ago that plus his speed on the downs would have won him the race but the XC crowd have gone full enduro and all fly down the mountain (and up). BTW, was Gaze even in the race? I though he went full roadie?
  15. Perhaps they need to dismantle the bikes - hardtails at that - a little less often. You know "if it aint broke don't fix it" kind of thing. I have found my Spaz command post droppers to be very reliable - even when the one failed because of lack of service, it still locked in place and could be manually raised if it was down. I guess a cable issue could be more of an issue though...
  16. A decent, well maintained dropper should not fail over the course of a race weekend. Its possible they trained for a few days on a very wet track before the sun came out for the race weekend. But then surely they should have been cleaned up/serviced before what was a totally dry race.
  17. Can someone please create a bikehub fantasy league. Thx.
  18. Used to get those free coffees but then Disco went all like aggro on Strava cheats and messed it up for the majority who didn't cheat. I tried the driving app but every time I accelerated to merge with cars doing 120 on the freeway I got red alerts because I was exceeding the 60km/h limit on the on ramps. I pointed this out to them and they made some excuse and changed nothing. So I ditched the app. Having to pay extra for the privilege of maybe getting a discount on something I probably didn't need just rubs salt in the wound as far as my wife and I are concerned. :-)
  19. That's a rip off. I replace my own when they look like breaking at the derailleur screw. In my experience its the outer that affects the shifting the most and its worth buying the decent stuff like Shimano.
  20. That is a major bummer. Was the course marked properly? Sometimes the arrows and taping could be better. What happens if you go wrong, go the longer way round due to the error but still win? Sill a DQ?
  21. I raced this weekend. Wow, I've never had such a scary weekend on my bike. The Zevenwacht track is a load of fun but very intimidating if you've never seen it before or are nervous of gap jumps. There are at least 9 gap jumps some around 5 m and the one over the tine mine is a high consequence gap if you go too slow or try to bail at the last minute. Its all well built stuff but very scary. I had a good training day but race day didn't go so well with a crash in practice, and two minor but time wasting offs on my timed runs. A fun and character building weekend and a first DH race for my 13 year old nephew.
