  1. Absolutely amazing riding from Greg. So impressive.
  2. My wife has the 26er Zula with QR. We also lack a spare but in many years she hasn't even bent it. I on the other hand have bent a few hangers but never broken one in over 25 years of riding and many hard crashes. Just make sure you have a shifting spanner handy to bend it straight and bike shops usually have tools to do a proper job. I wouldn't worry too much about a spare if I were you.
  3. Anyone know what went wrong with Cinks bike? Looked like he was stuck in 10th gear...
  4. Mine worked from Germany yesterday evening for the XCC. You have to let the VPN log on properly before opening your browser or it detects you are in SA and therefore blocked. I had to restart my PC to get it working...
  5. Watched xcc on RB with VPN Had Bart and Rob on commentary. Was exciting stuff. Much better track than usual. A bit like a BMX. Maybe they should go back to 26" for these events
  6. Watch out later today for youtube vids of the practice session. VitalMTB is a good source as well as MTBNews.de's channel and the individual riders like Kerr, Fairclough and co.
  7. Good luck guys and girls. We drove most of the Baviaans a few weeks ago after the first snow but just before the really heavy weather that saw snow all over the area at road level. The corrugations are pretty terrible most of the way but at least the route is more interesting once it enters the nature reserve section. Some sections of the descent on the pass before Smitkraal are more like a 4x4 route than ever. What do racers do about staying dry on the long river crossing sections of track? Just get wet feet and live with it?
  8. As I may have said once before, a few months ago I did a road ride and was quite shocked to see how many roadies just blast through red lights, the guys I was with too. I vowed to road ride solo from then on and not on a Saturday morning. The aggro from motorist twits was also huge, its as if its a hobby for some drivers. I am totally with DD on the vast disparity in harm that a cyclist riding badly may cause compared to a car.
  9. I also find the categories for bike type a bit too Seffrican and not real world enough. A HT, especially a steel one makes a great trail/enduro bike if you're prepared to ride it properly and develop some muscles you don't usually need on a dual sus. If you've never ridden or owned a trail/enduro HT then asseblief please don't make a fool of yourself by commenting on something you know nothing about. Then again this is Bikehub, so you may as well carry on ????
  10. There were quite a few injuries this weekend but I suspect Armoury Pierron will be back for the worlds at least.
  11. Ya, that was a bit weird - seemed to run over and then jump back.
  12. I've charged phones overnight for years without incident. We always use Samsung supplied chargers however. I think the eBike fire risk is low unless a battery is damaged in a crash - lithium batteries exposed to air can ignite and a short circuit could occur if the wiring is damaged. Obviously this depends on the quality of the bike itself. A cheaper, poorly made eBike could be another story entirely.
  13. I like that track - natural and as they kept saying, one where precision was key. GM got yet another podium and is lying third overall at age 39, an age at which most people would be retired or semi-retired.
  14. I saw that, its crazy. I bet the frame quality has not improved either. A few years ago I was busy restoring a very old Giant ATX 890 Ht frame. I had hammered the bike for years before and it had been standing around for a while. I stripped the paint off the frame and found only minor signs of fatigue around the welds. Nothing that prevented the bike being ridden however. A well made ali frame should last a good few years. Sadly it was stolen half way through the restoration project ????
  15. Check the warranty. That's a manufacturing defect/quality issue, not normal wear and tear.
  16. Yes, its cracked. That is an extremely high stress area on any bike but especially a HT. A bike like this is made for gentle MTB not hard core trail riding. If you're a heavy rider or have been pushing it a bit on very rough terrain, drops and jumps, then chances are its cracked up. ????
  17. To me it looks like a light duty eBike. That fork and frame would take strain if ridden like the usual trail/enduro style full suspension eBikes. I'd break it if I rode it like my steel hardtail.
  18. That used to be the price of a decent bike...
  19. The Ozzie commentator was going on about how lovely Jolanda is every second sentence ????
  20. It looked almost as if she popped an unintentional wheelie...
