  1. When vitality stopped the free coffees via Strava and made you pay a stack just to join, I gave up.
  2. Take it back to the shop. It sounds like the air spring is stuck down. Its not major but best let them sort it out.
  3. There is no doubt that local i.e SA riders are at a massive disadvantage compared to their overseas counterparts, even more so the weaker the Rand gets. I agree that the stats don't always follow eg Canada's relative lack of top riders, but it certainly plays out when it comes to UK and French racers. The UK riders can easily migrate to the PDS for a long weekend and the same goes for the guys from the South of France. Its a cheap holiday for them. The MTB culture in SA is also the polar opposite of Euro and US where dh/enduro rule, not dirt roadie marathons.
  4. eBikes are the new trail bikes for the SA market.
  5. You will be successful. I had a small claim ito the previous Act in the late 1990's in similar circumstances.
  6. Brandon if you have some kind of insurance for personal injury then your first port of call is to lodge a claim - that would be pain and suffering, loss of income and medical expenses. If you dont, like most people, your claim lies against the perp who may not be the owner of the car meaning you're looking at the proverbial man of straw. You first port of call is to ID and have the perps arrested and then do back ground checks on them to see if they're worth the bother. PM me if you want some more info or assistance.
  7. If you stick to Tokai, you won't have to deal with dogs or (usually) any hikers or runners on the tracks. Just a few baboons, who are a pleasure compared to dog walkers.
  8. I got way better out of the original KMC 11 speed chain on my bike - around 4k km before I decided to change it at .75 using the same gauge as you. I have a bargain basement SRAM chain on the bike now and after 1000 km or so its not even at .5. To add insult to injury I don't ever wash my chains thoroughly and simply wipe them down periodically with a towelling rag and add wax lube if they're dry.
  9. Yup, and our men are also trailing GM by miles...
  10. That was a great weekend of racing. The two race format needs to stay. I must say GM is amazing - he has the perfect temperament for DH racing, patient and analytical. He just needs to stop bumping his head on start hut roofs. This isn't the first time.
  11. Its either faulty or you're riding it locked out unless you only ride road of course. Take ut back to the Spaz dealer and get them to check it out and do a airspring set up and show you what the knobs do.
  12. A stiff but grippy sole is vital. The best pedals wont help if your footwear is wrong.
  13. That was awesome. Such a great ride from GM. It was a shame Loris flatted (maybe Hreg put a drawing pin in his tyre ;-) ) but I suspect Gregs time would have stood.
  14. Ya, this is by far the best track they've had for years. Lots of interesting sections and long enough to test the fitness of the best.
  15. M Nicole is on pole for the race tomorrow with Tracey in Second, Tahnee in third and M Cabirou, 4th.
  16. Sounds like you've been slapped on the ass a few times? Was it the Brenners?
  17. Do you run around slapping people and expect to get away with it because "its not assault" ?
  18. Im looking forward to this one because the track is new and different - a bit longer, nice variation. Maybe a track for GM to excel on.
  19. Enjoy the TokaiMTB track which I rode on my enduro bike and created for WTW/TokaiMTB. I was pleased to see it had the most climbing. The route takes in jeep track ascents to level 5, down the Coronation Curves, then Boulders down, up to Mamba, down the Snakes to Rinkhals, back up to Vasbyt and down again.
  20. My phone said I did DH3 in 7 minutes something on the 25th because I was too close to the start of the trail while waiting I suspect. If I had my Polar on me and it gave a proper time would it have been cheating to take the better and probably much more accurate time?
  21. Nope, Garmin or phone, Strava is not consistently accurate enough to be a bona fide race timing system. There are various tracks at Tokai where it is heinously inconsistent and i'm sure the same is true wherever you ride. Its a lottery. For instance, I did my fastest time on Lizard a few days before the event with a top ten. This was into the wind after not riding it for months as an unfit rider. I have definitely ridden it faster in the past with a tail wind but not according to Strava. Rinkhals is another one. I ride it almost every time I'm at Tokai but my times vary by 10-20 secs sometimes which is unlikely. My wife crashed a few years back and I rode down with her phone in my pocket ( same phone too) while she had a bakkie ride. My phones time was 10 or more secs quicker down Vasbyt than hers. Perhaps if there was a chairlift (or you had an eBike) and could do ten runs down every segment and averaged them you'd have a better idea...
  22. Nope, I think you're thinking of the shock body. The damper shaft is the bit that pushes the piston inside the shock body. RS simply do not make this part for any of their shocks. Crazy stuff.
  23. With RS I think it depends on what breaks. For instance, if you pop the damper bladder on your Pike, you can get spares. I've had no issues with my other fork, a Yari. The shocks are a different story. My otherwise perfect Monarch Plus was reduced to scrap because the damper shaft developed a stress fracture. No such thing as a spare part anywhere in the world because because RS don't bother making one. Fox on the other hand does have spares for theirs. I've hammered Fox rear shocks in the past - by that I mean using them beyond their intended purpose and never had an issue with the three I've owned. I would not touch another RS rear shock, ever.
